Its impossible for anyone to put a single definitive number on how long it takes one person to create a given animation. so many factors come into play, work flow, tools available, complexity of the movement or scene, speed of the hardware you're using, how buggy the software is etc.
as stated before, the best estimate is "a long time"
If it was easy, everyone would do it because its so darned satisfying taking a static figure and giving it life =)
Thread: Define Rendering | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I find myself having to explain "rendering" to a lay-person quite often ("lay-person" is such a weird term O_o)
I usual say its the program taking my scene and calculating how rays of light interact with surfaces and project shadows and calculate reflections and transparancies.
Which usually gets the response, "huh?"
at which point I strangle them.
Thread: Dynamic clohes running thread... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello.
Though I've never created any meshes for Poser I have worked with dynamic cloth extensively in Poser.
One thing I've noticed when particular parts of a mesh start "exploding" or doing weird things, the problem is often in the vertices selection process. Even though you drag-click a box over an area, sometimes not all points in that box get selected and you have to zoom way in (obviously you should be viewing things in wireframe mode) and make sure all the points you want selected actually are.
Dunno if this will help but it was the first thing that came to mind =P

Quote - Try this first. It happened to me and drove me crazy until I accidentally discovered it. It's actually on the screen but "off" the screen at the same time. It happened to me after I'd made a really big render and then back down to the normal size.
.
Hmm that may have been what happened. Friday I switched poser to windowed mode for the first time ever and resized it to hlf my monitor's screen size.
The memory dots could still be "outside" of the viewing area but since I already have Poser at my monitor's maximum display size I dont know how to "scroll" Poser to look outside of this area.
grrrr this is frustrating....
Thread: How do I hide the big red magnet and it's yellow attachment thingy? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've had issues with this too.
Even if you set the parts of the magnet to not be visible, once you select the prop or body part that has that magnet attatched to it the magnet becomes visible again.
I can see why it is designed to do this but its still annoying.
One work-around I have found is to select the magnet base (not the magnet itself) and shrink its size down to a less obtrusive percentage. This should not effect the morph you are trying to create.
visible or not, the magnet should not show up in renders.
hope this helps.

Quote - try deleting the ui prefs file in documents and settings/..../application data/poser 7.Â
if you delete library prefs you will need to respecify your external runtimes again.
Factory state , and turn then on in the top menu should have got them back, unless they were behind something.
sigh thats going to reset all the workflow preferances I've set over the years through arduous trial and error =(
I appreciate the suggestion but is there any other less destructive way to get this one tool back?
Thread: Looking for standstill walk | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The Poser Walk designer walks look goofy to me no matter how they are tweaked.
There are stationary animated walk poses available at Renderotica for V4, Aiko 3 and 4 and Terai Yuki 2 and they include poses with or without breast bounce. These are designed specificly for walking in place and to look more natural than the Poser walk designer can usually create.
These products offer a beefy readme for poser animation and full tech support from the maker of the pose.
Just search the store at Renderotica (or animotions) for "V4 Strut" or "A3 Strut" or TY2 Strut"
Dont let the "adult" nature of Renderotica scare you. There are some great products available there (as well as very helpful staff and artists).
just make sure you're 18 years of age or over =)
