So it doesn't appear anywhere, but if I were to click export image then I would see it somewhere once saved?
Thread: Is it possible to run two copies of Poser simultaneously on the same computer? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - > Quote - I'd like to be able to do this in Poser. Sometimes it takes a long time to either clothify or render something that I'd like to be working on a different thing in the meantime.
Have you tried rending in the background? This allows you to work on current project while your initial setup is rendering. Won't work with clothify though.
Hadn't really used rendering in background because I never know where the background render is stored. It just seems to disappear and isn't even in my recent renders. Is it located somewhere else? And under what file name since it hasn't been saved? I tried it again now and I just can't find that background render.

Ok well I uninstalled Poser 8 and then reinstalled it to a different directory. It seems to be able to run simultaneously with Poser Pro 2012 now. So that's solved.
However, looking at the Poser 8 interface after so long, it looks a little primitive. Is there no way in Poser 8 to have the editing tools in 2 rows of 6 instead of a long row of 12? It stretches across the screen too much and takes up too much space. Same with the document display style toolbar.
And is there no way to have the parameter dials display permanently under the library on the bottom right hand side of the screen as in Poser Pro 2012? I also wish the main window didn't float on Poser 8.
And what about the main menu at the top which says Pose, Material, Face, Hair, Cloth etc? Can that somehow be pulled over more to the left on Poser 8 so that it resembles Poser Pro 12? It's too much in the centre of the screen and not an efficient use of space.
Thanks

Quote - You're not allowed to run the same version of poser twice, however you can run 2 different version of poer at the same time. If you run the same version of poser of more then once at the same time, you run the risk of having your serial number blocked.
I see. Thanks.
But that's what I was trying to do originally anyway - running Poser 8 and Poser Pro 12, as I have them both installed on my computer. They're obviously not the same versions. However, Poser 8 wouldn't load whenever Poser Pro 12 was in session. Is there a reason for that?

Quote - I sometimes run Poser in a virtual machine for testing script compatibility with other versions of Poser than the one I have installed on my PC. In this way I can run multiple copies at the same time.
Do you mean like in Windows XP Mode on Windows 7 (which is a virtual machine)? But will Windows XP mode be able to handle Poser Pro 12? And could I even use the same shared runtime between a virtual machine and a real one?

Quote - I've never been able to trick the computer into doing two Posers open at the same time. You don't state your memory configuration or OS. If you are 32 bit, then it would be pointless to try, because the OS takes up half of the 4 gig limit, and Poser takes the other half (pretty much... especially when rendering.)
I've never tried to install Poser to an external, vitachick, but I believe the installer gives the option to install to a drive other than C:, so I suspect it would work. Moving it from computer to computer probably would not, because the registry entires and dlls et all would not be on the second computer.
Perhaps Cooper or BB can chime in with a more difinitive answer.

From the EULA:
"Except as otherwise expressly permitted in the Documentation, you will only use the Program on a single computer, meaning that you must treat the Program “like a book.” "Like a
book" means that the Program may be used by any number of people and may be freely moved
from one computer to another so long as no possibility exists of the Program being used at more
than one computer simultaneously. "My reading of this prohibits the program being installed on more than one computer at a time, even if it is you using both computers.

Thanks. I'm using a Del Inspiron 15R which I think is Windows 64 bit, and also Windows 7.
Poser prohibits use on more than one computer. But I'm not wanting to put it on more than one computer but on the SAME computer, just to open it twice so that I can work on things in parallel instead of series otherwise it just takes too long to do anything. My other laptop is so old that it couldn't even handle Poser anyway.
Thread: Missing items from Runtime library | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hmm, well maybe I don't need to reinstall PP2012. I just added something to the P8 runtime character library using the + button, and since the P8 runtime is now located in My Documents folder on a different drive, it saved it there and not in the virtual store. So that actually gets round that problem of having to always transfer things across if it now automatically saves it straight there in the runtime folder.
Thread: Missing items from Runtime library | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have a vague recollection I changed the defaults. I don't remember how to change it back. The Poser 2012 runtime is located in the Program Folder, but I haven't really been using that as my main runtime, because most of my accumulated library was in the Poser 8 runtime, so I've been working with that.
How do I change the defaults back so that the Poser 2012 runtime is in a shared folder? And if I wanted to combine stuff from the Poser 8 runtime, do I have to transfer everything manually and one by one?
Thread: Missing items from Runtime library | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ok thanks. I've located the virtual store and am copying over all the files from there. But does that mean everytime I add something to the library it's going to keep saving it in that location, meaning I have to copy it over each time? That would be tedious.
Has anyone disabled their UAC at all, and if so, a) does that affect any other systems on Windows and b) will Poser automatically save items in the normal Runtime folder from then on, or will it be saved somewhere else?
Thread: Why are there no morphs or textures for Luke (Millennium teen)? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I see about 3 different morphs on Daz. One caucasian, one african and one asian. That seems to account for all the variations on Luke characters. Hopefully the textures would change their features a little bit. I found a couple on Share CG too.
How old are Luke and Laura meant to be anyway? It says pre-teen, so are they about 11 or 12? But they could look like mid teens too.
Also, what's this David character? How old is he meant to be?
I know there are some young M4 characters on here, but they still look too old (at least 16 or older) than what I'm looking for.
And which hands do people use for Luke? There aren't really any hand poses either. The other ones around seem to distort his hands and require adjustments which I don't always want to make if I have a lot of different renders to do.
Thread: Why are there no morphs or textures for Luke (Millennium teen)? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ok thanks. Are they the most up-to-date teens/ pre-teens? It's almost as if that age group is ignored, and people only create either adults or young kids.
I wonder if I even have any M3 textures that aren't just the default ones. I pretty much use M4 all the time.
Thread: Frequent clothifying problem with Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have to say that ever since turning the sims into morphs instead with the spawn morph target, it has made my work MUCH easier and quicker. I don't have to worry about the clothes exploding anymore, even if I close the file and come back to it later.
Before I didn't dare close the file for fear of what would happen, meaning that I had to work on it all then. I couldn't even go and access another file and pull it from there because it would mean I would have to close it. Now I can even simulate something in a separate file and then add it to the library, and their clothes will remain in that simulated state (as a morph of course).
Thanks for the help guys.
Now if only I could fix some of those earlier files I simulated from before - even deleting the tmp files don't seem to fix that explosion.

Quote - Just curious what version of Poser are you running on? There was a bug like this which was solved in SR3. Are you running SR3?
I don't think so. That was released in August, right? I had Poser Pro 2012 before then, so I'm guessing it's either SR1 or 2 as I haven't updated anything since August.
Thread: Frequent clothifying problem with Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I've had this problem, and fixed it by deleting the .tmp file that Poser generates while calculating the sim. I think Poser usually deletes it once it's done, but if there's a crash or something, the .tmp file remains, and can cause problems.
Ah, ok. That's good to know too. So does the .tmp file even remain for older files? There are some older ones I've created before which, when I open it again some time later, I find it the clothing has exploded, and I can't be bothered to go and fix it because it's so much work. If there are .tmp files still associated with them, maybe by deleting them it would make those older files work properly again?
If those old ones have lost their simulation, it's almost the equivalent of never having saved them in the first place.

Quote - > Quote - I see. So when you do the morph target thing, in effect it's not really a sim anymore but a custom morph that just happens to assume that shape (the same shape as that sim)? Is that correct?
Yes, that is correct. But you can leave the sim (just reset it) and when you need to sim again for a different pose, delete the morp and do the sim (or set the morph to 0).
You can even have multiple morphs for pose1, pose2, etc. Just make sure that only one of them is active
Ah, thanks. That's actually quite clever. I'm guessing this must also be how these creators here on Renderosity make multiple morphs of, say, a bedsheet or covers that have been slept in that seem to fit exactly with the various poses provided? They've probably simmed it several times and saved each as a morph?
