Quote - Have you tried the suggestion in Vista yet?
Yes, but when I "right clicked", the sidebar suggestions were "Open", "Open in new window", "Open in new tab", "Save link as"... So what should I do from there?

Quote - Right click on the zip and check what option you have under Open With. If you didn't download and install a zip utility like 7-Zip then the only options will likely be your browser or Windows Explorer. With Windows 7 Explorer can view a zip file as if it where just another folder. So open the zip with Explorer then in the side bar navigate to folder you want the zip file's content in and drag & drop the content into the real folder.
I have Windows Vista (not 7) so how do I unzip with Vista???

Quote - You must be clicking on a Poser related file (i.e., PZ2) which will open Poser. How have you been opening your zip files? Double-clicking on such files will open a separate browser window. You need to extract the compressed files into a folder containing a runtime. It will not do it automatically. Like all compression programs, this is a manual installation; perhaps advanced settings would do it for you, but you must know that application thoroughly to do it. If everything looks correct, then move that runtime folder into it's final destination.
Many users will recommend to decompress into a temporary folder and check for proper folder naming and placement. Most vendors do comply, but new vendors and freebies may not follow the proper Poser hierarchy. At which point, you may need to move files around and/or correct file scripts to point at the correct textures or objects. A royal mess for a newbie.
Okay... as a "newbie", I do not know how to decompress (is that another name for "unzipping"???). That's why I don't know what's happening when I click on the purchased items as they do not open on their own. I am not able to unzip or open them proper and would like to know how to do so. As I have mentioned before... I am new to this.

PS u r going to kick yourself when you get it and see how easy this all is.
What's been happening is that the items I purchased through Renderosity when double clicked opens Poser Pro2012 and does not unzip and/or then move into a folder of any kind. I'm not sure of why it opens Poser, but I don't want to purchase any more items from Renderosity until I can download the items into Poser.

Quote - However, Poser will create a runtime folder with all the subfolder by just linking the parent folder to Poser itself. Create a blank folder, for example Props, somewhere on your hard drive and easily accessible. Link it to Poser as illustrated in my previous post. When you open that original folder again in your Windows browser, you will see all the necessary folders required by the Poser Library.
IIRC, there is a runtime template somewhere in the freestuff section.
How do you "link" the parent folder and what exactly is the parent folder??? I have to know what the parent folder is before I can link it to Poser, am I correct?

Okay... right now I'm having trouble getting one "external runtime" set up, let alone having several of them. I know once I get my head around that, I'll probably kick myself, but until then....

I also need to find out how to "unzip" the "zip" files of products I purchased from Renderosity.

I just went to that section and clicked on "download item". It took me to a site that said it was no longer available.

Okay... Victoria 4 is now on Poser Pro 2012. Thank you for helping me out, but I need to find out how to create a Runtime folder.
I also need to find out how to "unzip" the "zip" files of products purchased from Renderosity.com.

Quote - Double-click the installer and follow the prompts. Make certain you direct it to the folder you created for V4. The installer will generate the necessary folders and files.
So you're saying that Victoria 4 Base is the installer, am I correct? Otherwise, you didn't say so.
Thread: Victoria 4 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - The Power Loaders are only exclusive to DAZStudio. They are not the same as the V4 Base installer and you do not need them for Poser. You should have downloaded Victoria 4 Base installer at the same time. I am not at my own computer to give you the exact name of that file. If you did not download that particular installer, log back into DAZ3D and check your account for any files you missed. You should have a total of 3 files: 1 for Poser, 1 for DAZStudio, and the Power Loader.
If your download account is empty, then you will need to reset it within DAZ to make it accessible again.
I have Victoria 4 Base, but it's not called Victoria 4 Base installer. If what I have is the installer, then where do I go from there?

Quote - Next question, did you double click the V4 installer and installed her into a folder? According to a previous response, it sounds that you did just that, but I want to verify this step.
And what is the name of this folder?
Right now, the V4 figure folder is located in my Documents folder in a folder called, "DAZ figures V4". I have "Victoria 4 Power Loader and Victoria 4 Power Loader (2)... but I don't have "V4 installer" in that folder. I'm not sure if the Power Loader and the installer is the same thing or not. If it isn't, how do I go about getting the installer???

This is, at least, the best way to literally show us your set up, problems, etc. At the top row of your keyboard, on the right side of the function keys, is a button calledPrint Scrn. This take a snapshot of your monitor and save it in clipboard memory. You will need a program to paste that clipboard image, usually PowerPoint is a safe bet or Microsoft Word. Even Photoshop or GIMP may serve well.
If you don't have either of those programs, IRViewer is an excellent freeware for viewing, resizing and converting images. Open the program into a blank page and paste your clipboard image into it. Unfortunely, the problem with Print Scrn is you capture everything on your monitor screen and you will need to crop the image to isolate what you want to post. I, personally, use SnagIt; I can select what to capture and edit it in the same program.
Once you save your image to disk, at the bottom of the forum posts, you will see a field entitled Attach a File:. It is here that you will upload your image for post display.
To be continued....
I tried pressing the Print Sc button and get nothing but the computer sending the screen back a page.. When I pressed the button and shift athe same time, it returned the page to the original page I left off at. If I'm pressing the button wrong, please let me know.

As I stated in the last post, I believe my main problem is in setting up a "Runtime" or "Runtimes". I am only guessing here, but maybe I am supposed to set up some sort of external "Runtime" that can be downloaded or added into a folder in Poser... correct me if I'm wrong about that statement. Otherwise, as far as taking and upload images of the problems I am having, I'm not sure of how or where to start. All I know is that I tried to put my V4 items into a folder that could be placed in a Runtime folder so that Poser could "capture" (wrong word?) and upload the items. If that was not the proper way to do it, then I am not sure of the proper way of doing it.

Quote - It's okay, we'll sort it out and get your V4 working for you. Do you have a PC or a mac? Are you able to take screen caps of a few of the steps on your way to attempted installation, or if not just show a screen cap of your V4 folder structure.

I believe my main problem is creating a "Runtime folder" with the proper items in it. I don't seem to be about to download anything into Poser Pro 2012 without a runtime folder. Whatever I download onto my computer, I don't know how to transfer (if that's the right word) the items into Poser Pro 2012.
I have a PC, Windows Vista and I'm not sure how to take screen caps or show them. So if you have any suggestions on how I might be able to do so, please let me know.
