Thread: Fighting with textures... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
if you use photoshop, use the guides. and "snap to guides" is sometimes a pain, but for straight up/down or diagonal lines, this really helps. also, with some clothing items, i prefer a cylindrical uvmap as opposed to a planar map. with cylindrical, there is one seam, usually in the back (and that's at least realistic, right?)... the texture may "smear" just a wee along the hip area, but nothing really bad. just looks like stretched material.

reflection maps add a reflection, not fake, but predefined by what you choose. the highlight colour/strenghth adds a shine... there is a tute out there, i just have to look for it. it's in the tutorial section here i believe, if you want to have a look-see for yourself :)

i am "okay" at this stuff, but it looks like you are on the right track! if you apply a light noise bump (at about 20%) you'll have a fantastic metallic look. as is, i would probably either take the highlight off the shoes, or make them silver or black if you want to keep them shiney like metal. excellent so far though!

hmmm... being giddy with euphoria and making a typing error does not mean she's "on the sauce". if this was a joke, sorry, i didn't get it. hey helen? great job :) glad you were able to use my posette tute for vickie! outstanding!

there's a wish list on the front page... not much hasn't been done though :) if i can be so bold: practice on things that you enjoy making. you'll find you get better, faster, by doing this rather than by practicing on something that bores you. you'll get a feel for what's in demand and what's not. take care :)

Helen, The polygons of the dress are reversed. bring your object into your modeling program and flip the polygon faces around. If the dress has a low poly count, there is a utility in the free stuff that makes the polys double faced as well. Works great but I can't remember who made it :( Hope this helps Styxx

best thing to do is save your render as a tif file. This won't compress it and you can select your figure using the alpha channel. Makes putting post work backgrounds in really wasy :)
Thread: Trouble making good shadows, please help.. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
First, May I say, fantastic picture! As for the shadows, be sure to turn the shadow map up to 1024. This will give you shadows without the blotchy effect. You can also double click on the shadow map dial and increase the limit value for an even better effect. The highest setting I have ever used is 2000. It really slows down the render but the render looks pretty good :) Hope this helps you. Styxx

hi castaneda your pic should be between 100 and 4000 pixels in dimension. your thumbnail is 50-200 pixels. if you are using photoshop, make sure your aren't saving with an embedded thumbnail. hope this helps :) Styxx
