i agree dreamer, sometimes an image makes it easier to understand and get to a solution faster.

sorry dreamer... had to kill the post... this time they buried the "archival (backup) purposes only" copy way deep into the Terms of Service.

you may be able to get away with the feature set available in PS Elements, i'm not sure you can get earlier versions of PS, it may require looking around.

One small trick you can do to make it smoother is to "dup" the layer element (say the window frame... ) and add a Gaussian Blur and lower the opacity to let the bottom layer show. This gives a soft focus feel and can be done to 3D renders too.

maybe we should have a TIPS section that members can submit to and we can keep track of these gems (i know as soon as i mark the forum "All Read", i'll lose track of this!!).
the down side is i'll have to do something with the "backroom" again... and i really don't have the time (i'm down to 4hours of sleep a night).
what do you(s) think???

I think best with examples ;)
if you could post or link to an example of what you have in mind i'm sure you'll get a bunch of different approaches.

Thread: Free Frames in Photoshop? | Forum: Photoshop
ummm here's one the is actually an "action" you can run on your pics:
Framing a Picture tutorial if you want to try it by "hand" - (you can also find some "framing" tuts on PlanetPhotoshop)
Adobe Studio Exchange (if you're already a member, might need to join up otherwise... it's okay, it's free)
maybe others have more URLs, i know of a few more (but you DID say "FREE")
see you around

Thread: grouping guides? | Forum: Photoshop
you're right, it's not the best way but i've done it in the past and after awhile you'll actually get quicker at it. one thing i'd recommend, make separate layers for each guideline... this allows for adjustments a WHOLE lot easier!!! i learned this the hard way!! then group em' and make a SET based on "linked layers".
