Thread: New Alien Character "Cring" in Freestuff | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Have you tried exporting as a Wavefront OBJ file? I think Bryce and TrueSpace can import OBJ, and I know Carrara can (I'm a Carrara user myself). Try this: Load a figure in Poser, and then do: File--> Export --> Wavefront OBJ, and see if that gets you on the right track. --Terri

Dolly, in UVMapper, make sure that after you've remapped the texture and saved the texture map, that you save the model as well. The new mapping won't work with the old obj file. Like, say, you load a file into UVMapper called Prop.obj. You remap it in mapper, and save the texturemap as Prop.bmp. Then you have to use the save model command, and save the remapped model (either as Prop.obj, or under a new name, like Prop1.obj, that's up to you). Let me know if that doesn't solve your problem. --Terri

Hey, is "Wyvern" French for "Cheddar Express"? Just curious. That's a very cool ship. It has a style I don't think I've come across before, but which I think works very well. Nice job.

Maybe the windows are one-way mirrors, like those sunglasses that were so popular in my youth.

Thread: I want to make things in poser but still dont know how | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I highly recommend ClintH's tutorial (the one wetworks is talking about). It's really helpful. Dolly, if you come over to the Character Creator's forum, you can listen to me whine about the problems I've had creating my poseable alien (coming soon to a freestuff near you). Maybe then you can avoid making the mistakes I did! Anyway, the first thing you need is your model, which needs to be saved in obj format. Do you already have a model you want to make poseable? If so, here's what I recommend. First, go through all the steps in ClintH's tutorial. Then, do it again, except this time use your obj file instead of the one he provides. When you're done, you'll have a finished Poser figure of your own design. --Terri

Maybe if I ever get my stupid alien done, he can fly it. Whee! Hope he doesn't drive like me. Actually, I should be able to load Cring into freestuff tonight. Then maybe he can hijack litst's spaceship... and use it to smuggle CHEDDAR to Mars. Or strafe France with little cheddar cheese balls. Mwahahahahaha! Nice ship, litst.

I think you've done a terrific job. I like the floor as well. Nice touch making it modular. Well done! --Terri

Well, for all I know RDS formulas could be very different. If you really want to mess with formulas (and I've only scratched the surface) I'd start with something simple like plain ol' stripes, first. You can do this with a one line formula in Carrara: red=z-floor(z); (z is the vertical position, floor(z) is the next lowest integer, or at least that's what it is in Carrara).
