Thread: P5 return policy for refund | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ah, now that's where you are way wrong and so far off base it's almost invisible Allen9. Why on this green earth makes you think it's Billy Boy that's doing it? Why else would he employ so many faceless men with briefcases if he did it himself? Hell no, it's more efficient and legal to get an army of lawyers to do that crap for you. :) Then you just sit back, count the dollars and bank the souls. smirk

That's nice, good to see you're on it. Shame that you didn't do this with Poser 4, but it's too late to whine about that now. :) Thanks for the update Starlet, a lot of people are going to be happy - erm, happier now.

Not really true? Hrrm.. OK, I have Lyne's stuff and Bloodsong's morphs (both of whom have made excellent freebies and toys for the horse) but who made a few dozen poses, a whole bunch of texture maps, wrote a fairly long and well detailed "how to" for horses - so people could pose the things like horses and not stick insects? huh? Well deserved praise I think. :) I mean, do you know how hard it is for a mechanic to pose a quadruped? It's got FOUR legs! That's not natural. LOL

I think you'll find that merchantable quality is a highly debateable term as "wrapped in pretty paper with a bow" makes it "merchantable"... However, if the software does not work satisfactorily to prevent user related stress on the lowest specified machine spec on the box then you have grounds to return the software to the manufacturer - or at least discuss return with them. The UK recently went through a small upheaval when a company and two private individuals successfully sued a software company into accepting return AND paying compensation due to "user stress". The court accepted that the software was (not operating as advertised) such a damn pain for the users to work with (bugs, unfriendly interface etc) that it caused them stress. It's a litigious world we live in and even software companies need to be careful these days. Hrrmm... maybe I should order Poser5, I could do with a nice handy payout for stress related psychological injuries. :) JeffH. 130 dollars? That seems quite high considering what some people are selling their souls for these days. G

For the person who pretty much single handedly made the Poser 4 horse worthwhile, hell yes we care. :) Thanks for the heads up. :)
Thread: SILENCE OF THE LAMBS | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Why don't you all just write to Curious Labs and ask them to post a link to the beta testers' forum? They could rush edit the thing to remove names the same way they rush edited Poser and rush it out for everyone so they can point fingers and scream at the wrong people. The people who screwed up Poser are the people who programmed and designed it. Not the poor schleps who tested it - well not all of them. Highly critical, efficient error reporting or bland sycophantic drooling. It shouldn't matter a damn to anyone here. The simple fact is that it was the decision of CL management to release unfinished software, it was the apparent inability of the programmers to get the thing together professionally at the speed expected of them with whatever was provided for them to do the job. This software has been three years in the making, of which... well, you guess at the ACTUAL time spent working on it. :) And no, I was not invited to be part of the beta team for various reasons. ;) Meanwhile stop looking for scapegoats. The real culprits for this are sitting pretty in their offices wandering how to rescue this unmitigated disaster.

ElectricAardvark. Sorry, but I must be reading things differently because all I see from Entropic is flippancy and sarcasm rather than a constructive comment in any form. Though it might be that it's getting late and my eyes aren't focussing right. :)
Thread: Has anyone heard of their IMs being intercepted here? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
PabloS. Why? Once you can find a weakness, any weakness in a site's programming and defences it's a relatively simple matter to exploit that. IM and suchlike would be the least of concern to rosity admin whereas the store would carry the heaviest encryption and protection. So, you hack what can be hacked, check out the coding, check out the routing, watch what goes where, follow it through and try to hack in through other doors. If you can't get further by that route then you try others. Always attacking the least sensitive areas first. Besides, what's utter boredom to you is the height of entertainment to another. That's why soap operas, game shows and these stupid survival programs are so popular. :) Entropic. Ignoring your sarcasm for a moment. As this is a public site owned by private individuals, who may or may not be held liable for information transmitted across their network and servers it's possible that there is method to intercept IMs if they so chose to implement it. With the membership base this site has it's highly unlikely that any of the admin staff have sufficient time to bother but that doesn't mean it can't be done. As a matter of example there is sufficient precedent of successful lawsuits held against ISPs for newsgroup messages that were considered defamatory to certain individuals. One example is a recent law suit carried by an American citizen against a British ISP. Not saying that they DO this sort of thing here, but you can bet for sure that the tools and ability certainly exists.
Thread: Win 2000 Users " Poser 5 " Beware!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Actually Jeff we "could" blame that on P5 (rightly or wrongly) or don't the server upgrades have anything to do with content paradise and the alleged teaming of Renderosity and Curious Labs? Not of course that they're linked, associated or in any way whatsoever common to each other. We all know that CP and P5 are completely seperate entities. :) Just kidding, of course. :)

Some other zillion dollar proggie. OK, can't resist that tempting little snippet. Messiah Animate 3.0 - 595 dollars (reduced intro price) Messiah Studio Advance - 1395 dollars Not badly priced considering the awesome array of tools and functionality you get. Poser 5 349 dollars (US shipping cost) Poser 5 upgrade 129, 179 or 209 dollars depending on which version you're stuck with. (US Shipping Cost) Different countries may vary for pricing. Remember, Poser 5 is acknowledged as being "broken" by Curious Labs, but that doesn't matter, they love you and will fix it just as soon as they can afford to hire their programmers back again. So. For another 200 dollars on the full version price you get an animation suite with far more power and capability and software compatibility and system compatibility than Poser provides. Or, for another 1000 dollars you get one of the most awesome animation and rendering suites available for budget oriented users. Considering how much people are claiming to have spent on their computers and in the store the price is not out of reach nor is it in the region of "zillions" which quite frankly is a ridiculous statement that reduces the credibility of the rest of that post. Hohum. Other software prices available on request and perhaps oddly, none of them equate to zillions of dollars. Perhaps someone is confused with the Space Program, or Vickie's underwear wardrobe? Just one last note. Maya 4.0, 4.2 and 4.5 was designed around the requests of the userbase - Alias are using that as a marketing gimmick, as are a couple other companies. Oh dear, looks like Curious failed to be unique again as certain people keep on claiming. Never mind, they are unique in one respect, but I'll let someone more capable of verbiage than me to explain it. On that note, it's late here. Goodnight all.

Seeing as many other companies have their own forums and the poser forum is essentially a pointless visiting place for other companies your comment is redundant. And just as a point. Curious Labs doesn't pay their staff to come here, they pay their staff, coming here is simply PR and business practice. They ain't fuzzy huggy wuggy buddies. Links? You can give links to "Final Fantasy quality renders". Made WITH and IN Poser 5? Yeah, right sure. With the poser lighting set up, cameras, figures, textures? Wait while I swallow my "gullible twonk" pill.
