When I recently started searching for Poser content, a good percentage of hits were "file sharing" sites. I think almost every Poser item ever made is advertised as available. Kind of sad.
When I first announced I would be doing Poser work among the small community I inhabited, a producer of live videos generously offered to host my work. Even if I get to that point I don't think I'll be doing commercial videos. What's the point when they'll only be on Youtube the next day?
Thank you to all the vendors and producers of authentic freebies. Where would we beginners (and others) be without you?
Thread: Using A Default Figure | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
As to the original question. If you are creating a scene, then the people are only props. Do you change the look of your props? (BTW, yes, I often do. Colors especially.)
I have dealt with the human body in an intimate way for nearly four decades in the health care field. There is no figure in the Poser range that looks completely human to me, no matter how much work I do. So, I often just stand back and make do.
Sometimes I just go with the base character, since they are incidental to the scene. Sometimes I spend a lot of time adjusting morphs and textures. But I always end up with something that I know doesn't look right. So I use my imagination.

I think the government just likes the power of being able to say when the sun rises and sets.

Some of those with good jobs are now finding themselves helping support relatives who aren't doing so well.
Thread: The "How Much Did I Spend?!?!?!?!?!" Thread | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

I had to laugh at this one because that's exactly what people say when they have a really bad addiction LOL. You should think about using an external runtime on an external hard drive then all you have to do is just add the librarys. It saves time because you don't have to reinstall anything.
I work with addicts often. I intend to get an external drive, probably SSD, eventually. But I needed to reorganize the content. Much easier to find things now. Next, however, is the second family financial crisis of the year to deal with........

I'm new at this. A little over a year. But I just bought a new computer to replace the old econobox. Better able to handle the new features of PP2012. Spent last weekend transfering about 20 (probably more, didn't count) GB of content. Manually installing them into better organized runtimes. But I'm not addicted. I can quit any time. I mean it, honest.........
I've downloaded Blender and Wings, in hopes of making items that don't seem to exist. (Mostly medical.) Eventually I will run out of things I "must" have. Now I just need more hours in the day, and days in the week.
Thread: Don't Understand the Big Attraction to Vicki 4.2 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I wouldn't use V4 for months. As stated above, once you figure how to alter her, she isn't too bad, and there is a lot of support outfits, equipment, etc. She is getting outdated.Time for something fresh.

I think those would be useful for Cold War spy scenes at least (both buildings and cars). I suspect there might be considerable interest among Europeans, also.
Thread: Finally a real bed for our tired poser people... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - That looks great, thank you.
There is another cool bed that I am hoping to get. All of the action is under the sheet.
That's on my wishlist, also. More beds like this would be wonderful. But don't feel pressured. (Just bought a new computer, so my content budget is reduced for now.) Thanks for this one.
Thread: Best Way To Make Reflective Surfaces? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I got my robot setting up my metal store right now. Shouldn't be too much longer.
I see you got the Nieman Marcus editon of Andy 2.
Thread: Do you have a good example of light emitting objects? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - > Quote - The laptop screen in this render is acting as a light emitter.
I did use one extra point light set on low intensity.
Where is your Point Light position? behind your character?
You could put a primative square over the screen and illuminate that.

Quote - OK thanks all, I think I need to venture into the material room, it really does frighten me to death LOL!! all those nodes where do I start??
Start with the links bagginsbill provided. Any questions, he will generally answer. He is the Poser "Material Man".

I'm close to make dynamic pillow, but still I have problem with adjusting windforces.
BTW I see big difference between my P7 renders and P2012 by Esther.
Looking forward to that. I do a lot of damsel in distress images. Hard to kidnap someone on a bed that stays flat. Thanks a lot.
Thread: Poser 9 / Pro 2012 Reviews? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - "I doubt any third party reviewer will go that deep into the program."
ha ha, this is the biggest improvement in Poser ever:
Real-time OpenGL Scene Preview
See the light (literaly) before renderirng!
Subsurface Scattering
Beautiful translucent material!
Constraint Channels and Constraint Objects
"Parenting" on and off during animation!
Weight Map Rigging and Vertex Weight Map Auto Transfer
Think of it. No more grouping and frustration. (unless you want to support earlier Poser versions that is..) The Weight Map Rigging system function not only with the new figures but also with all the old including V4/m4 (No more fiddeling with AutoGroup Editor, OBJ2CR205, Quickconforn etc etc). High-end tools like Maya is leaved behind in the dust. Only this feature is worth more than all the other together and makes it incredible easy to rig. Expect a flood of new clothing from the content providers
Rendering Performance Improvements´
Expanded Context Menus
Full Scene Category in Library
Multi-select Drag and Drop
Morphing Tool Tablet Support
Light Emitting Objects
Frame Selected Object
Orbit Selected Object Mode
Full 64-bit Mac/Win
Faster Dynamic Hair Pre-render
Texture Caching
Python 2.7 Support
Improved COLLADA
Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Support
High Dynamic Range Image (HDRI) Export
Gamma Correction/Linear Rendering
You must be kidding. For the first time Poser is up on the line with the high-end tools. I challenge you to make a hairrender better with Cinema 4D/vray or any other program or render software.
It is a paradigm shift and a new era has begun.
But how much to the high end programs cost? Most people couldn't even afford to look at them. At least the low end people have improvements.

You are not "wasting" anyone's time reporting problems. That is what customer service is for. It is their job. If no one reports problems, how will they know what is a customer's problem, and what is Smith Micro's problem? Smith Micro's customer service is excellent, by the way.
