fur, you are the fastest trouble-fixer I've ever seen in my life. I just hit the "Reply" button, and seconds later everything is adjusted... WOW !!! :-) :-) :-) Traveler, sorry that it is gone again... I hope it wasn't just me alone who didn't like the LOUD colours...

Another thing (I don't know how experienced you are, so you might have tried that already): Have you installed any other recent software? Some system extensions from System7 are causing crashes under Sys8/9, and there are some very stupid installers around that sometimes place them. Try to check your System folder for obscure items. If you can, try to install a small clean new System on a separate disk, start from it and try Poser again.

Its hard to guess with very little facts, but the most common reason for this (apart from a damaged Poser) is memory related. How much (real) RAM do you have, how much virtual and how much is for Poser? You should never give Poser the entire memory, try to leave at least 5-10 MB free for the system to breath. Poser will trigger some system services on startup (QuickTime, to mention just the biggest one), and if there is nothing left at all (while Poser is still starting up) it could start to throw bombs.

I used it right from the start, and if we continue we will probably get the full 1% list here... :-) fur, sorry for complaining again and again about forum technics - it's not my usual style to do this, honestly!! - but I must complain about the BLUE. Haven't seen the RED before, but please give it a decent style that suits the eyes... (actually, I'm also within the probably 0.5% who look at the number, no matter which colour it has!) It took me some time to get used to that GREEN, and I still don't like it too much, but please no more Warhol colours on top of it...

OK, I checked it, and as far as IE's help index goes, reload and reload are the same. The key would be F5, and CONTROL-Click pops up the context menu, offering (reload == reload) another time. SHIFT-COMMAND-Click does (nothing == nothing), which is interesting, because I thought that just every single chord you can hit does something these days, but... ...I discovered a GREAT thing which I had no idea of yet. If I OPTION-COMMAND-Click on a link, it copies a list of all links on that page into the page-holder without loading the page itself, and then shifts the page-holder open! This is completely off-topic and has nothing to do with this threat at all, but I'm really EXCITED... just one click and you can browse recursively through all links and sublinks, no banners, JavaScript, without ever leaving the original page! I'm probably the last person on earth who found out about this, but better late than never... :-)

Better than nothing, once again. Also, it depends on the value of the claim. If Jack Michaelson uses your texture on the sleeve of a CD which sells 50 million copies, it might be worth the try...

I should better not start to tell you about my NIGHTMARES last summer when I tried to connect to pre-Renderosity from various Internet Cafes on PCs, until I found one with a Strawberry iMac that finally succeeded to send the password. Well, I don't know this shortcut, but all it is supposed to do is to RELOAD the page, and that means that exactly the same things will happen as with the reload button...!? PS: My ISP is Windows, blame them! :-)
Thread: Deleting message glitch? | Forum: Community Center
Actually, I have my proxy connection permanently turned off, but I know that my ISP is doing stange things sometimes... As long as it will cause no damage to your board database, its no problem for me (but of course I wanted to let you know)

melanie, you are completely right that it is a very difficult thing to proof a misuse, and even more to successfully claim your right. But it still makes a difference if you (at least) try to protect your work. If stuff is posted (nearly) anonymiously or without a legal notice, you have no chance at all. If you do include a copyright notice, you have at least a small chance - which is better than nothing. Also, there are some ways to protect yourself - if you release textures, just burn or copy them to a disk, put it in an envelope and snail-mail it to yourself. When you recieve it, put it to a safe place. If you ever have to sue someone, this sealed letter (together with 2-3 witnesses that saw your work in creation) is MUCH better than nothing as evidence!

Jeff, this is what I usually do, but I often just get the cached page again. Probably a fault of my browser, but I have to live with it... fur, I haven't seen it for a while as well, so you are surely right. But I got the message that the whole threat was deleted this morning. I jumped back to the top forum level, into the forum again, and then I saw it without the deleted reply (thankfully...)

It was suggested a couple of times before, and it is VERY important: Everyone posting any work of his own should include a copyright note, explaining what's allowed to be done with it, and where it ends. If a texture is posted to the public domain - fine, but you can't do anything afterwards. If you don't want this, include a note like "to be used for private/non-commercial purposes". It might me still difficult to actually get your right if anything happens, but at least you have a chance for legal actions if anything really nasty occurs. Otherwise, no way at all, I'm afraid. (I'm not reffering to the actual case - I have no idea at the moment what the read-me's in question said)

Yes, Ha! Hurray! Well,... Hmm,... you will probably want to kill me for the this next one, but... ...the global search seems to search the first post only, and no replies, and I just thought... OK, OK, OK, enough is enough, you're right! I'm perfectly happy with my mile, no need to have it much larger... All the best to you, MartinC

That was cute, you answered while I still typed in my question... :-) :-) :-) OK, request again: Could you bring back global search as an option?
Thread: ATTENTION web masters of this site! Please read! | Forum: Community Center
OK, I did it now and it works PERFECT !!! :-) I think this a very good solution for the intial problem - just type in a good keyword and get all related posts in seconds. Just one additional question: Is it possible to extend the search to all forums? A Poser related question might as well be answered somewhere in "Technical", and currently you have to hop to every single forum and type in the same keyword again and again.
