I have some cork platform slides in Freestuff. Sure, they're out of season at the moment but it's hard to beat the price.

It's nice to hear about good people like this.
Sam, if you don't mind my asking, what is the site where you and the other musicians post? And, what kind of axe is it?

I remember wondering who this Millie and Victoria were and why they looked so alike. And this Millennium Woman people were talking about. Who in the heck?
And where could I get that Posette model! All I had were the base Poser people.
Gawd. I was a DORK.
Didn't take me long to start ripping apart cr2s looking for the meaning of life though.
Thread: Dynamic Dresses, need some help | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
And another dynamic cloth fan is born.
I try to clothify items that have a convenient material group that I can constrain. Anything else can be hit or miss, but at least miss can be entertaining. Sometimes.
I've never tried drapak's prop trick. Sounds interesting though.

Back when I used to post, I was all over the place genre-wise but towards the end I turned to a sort of "portrait purism" where I would try to set up a scene as simply as possible and eke the maximum effect out of that. The Perfect One Spot Render was my holy grail at the time.
Now I think about that and laugh. Talk about silly and pretentious. But I made some purdy, and utterly meaningless, pictures, while learning a lot about now outdated technology. Bonus.
Render and tweak, render and tweak... now that I think about it I guess my process hasn't changed much. I think that the process is my motivation. I get a big charge out of making a tiny change that makes "the" difference to me. I've never been a great artist, but I have been an okay technician who occasionally made an image that worked.
There is always room to learn.
But thinking further, my favorite images have always been satirical, though. I enjoyed the bait & switch, trying to catch people off guard to make them laugh.

Quote - Every now and then I actually miss Poser 4.
The other day I rendered something in P4 (because I had Neftis' old Very French hair in it), and it turned out really well. Better than I remembered.

Honestly, I am squeamish about posting art anymore. I have a few Vue renders on our web site, but have not posted any of them here. Maybe I ought to, if only to make some poor schmuck feel better about his own stuff.
Here's the thing. You post something, and you (usually, but not always) get comments that are essentially a request to comment on the commenter's latest thing. If you elect to turn off comments, then you look like you are so engrossed in smelling your own farts that you can't take the time to notice the little people. Or perhaps that is a false perception and I am a nut job who should just get the hell over it?
Rest assured, people, that if I comment on your image I genuinely like it or got a kick out of it and I am not expecting a comment back.
Anyway, back to the thread, folks.

Breaks are good. They clear your mind and help you find a better perspective.
Mike and I grew bored to death with Poser and the community dramas "back in the day" and took a holiday. A 3+ year one. Made music, played Warcraft, played Warcraft some more and then we uh, played a little more Warcraft.
Then one day we'd had enough of Warcrack, and that was that. Out. Cold Turkey. No, you you may not have my gold.
I started playing around in Vue again and installed DAZ Studio so I could use some old Poser content. Mike saw and insisted that I needed some new Daz stuff for my upgraded Vue and that led to a Poser 8 upgrade and holy chit, we are up to our ears in making Poser stuff again. It's better this time, we have a firmer handle on what we're doing and what we want to do with it.
It's also more interesting making things with a built-in partner. We egg each other on. I gripe offhand that I want a decent pair of trousers and boom! the next morning they're on my desktop asking to be cut and rigged.

Thread: Looking for Coelosphere-Orrery | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The 3dcafe site is down so I can not post a link.
There is the other download location (presumable mined from 3dcafe) that ghonma linked to above, however.
Thread: Looking for Coelosphere-Orrery | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have the old 3dcafe orrery in my archives but there is no readme or attribution of the model for clarification on usage.
Thread: Gallery filter? | Forum: Vue
You could try your luck filtering by Vue > Landscapes or other subcategories besides Portraits or Pin-Ups, rather than choosing just the Vue gallery.

While I would personally like to continue my unabashed thread derailment, I'll be generous to disinterested parties and attempt brevity.
Quote - Chuckle - I didn't always agree with WFB's politics but he was a gentleman and a scholar.
I loved the way his eyes would get a tick and open wider sometimes while he was talking. He exuded intelligence.
Quote - My point is that there are **two **markets. I don't know if Daz created DS with hopes of taking down Poser, quite a tall order. Perhaps they looked at the serial ownership changes and sought to ensure that there would even be an application for their content should Poser crater.
Unrelated but interesting trivia: Prior to CL, Poser was being developed by Fractal Design and then Metacreations. Carrara is derived from Ray Dream Studio, which was also developed by Fractal Design and Metacreations.
Laurie, maybe you are right. Maybe DAZ developed DS out of concern that the community would die, because it knew P5 was going to be buggy, Curious Labs was going to abandon Poser and the market was in danger of evaporating as a result. Or, maybe Dan's introduction of DS here while the CL staff was getting blown out (including Cooper) was smartly taking advantage of an opportune moment to be the savior, instead of just the businessman who took action some months before when he learned the next version of Poser was going to include either Renderosity or Content Paradise built into the software in a manner similar to the way Microsoft built Internet Explorer into Windows.
It could be that when your former technology partner tries to steal your market, you try to steal theirs in return. A businessman who thinks that way might also recognize that giving it away free could be a good vertical marketing approach to draw more potential customers into his store. That may be why we have DAZ Studio, in addition to it being about ensuring the market's survival.
Quote - I would give more credence to darker motives if Daz weren't primarily content sellers - who knows if they will ever get a significant part of their revenue from DS? Their primary mission is to ensure that our Goddess Vicky becomes omnipresent in every temple, irrespective of application or architecture - may it be so.
'
Heh... (applause) Where she goes, may we follow.
Nah. I don't see anything DAZ is doing or has done as being "darker motives." I see it as being good business, which is what we can expect from Dan.
Thanks for the pleasant and civil exchange, lmckenzie. You are a fun read.
