Thread: October contest rule question, and possible error? | Forum: Vue
As for the gap thing, I checked the original file and I can say you that the inversed pyramid you can see on the alekssander posted screen capture is meant to be placed at the gap's place... now, question is : 'could you change this without breaking the rules ?' Gebe, we need your voice !!! :-) As for the rules, there are only three : - no figures - no change in elements of the original scene (except textures) - no criminal investigation looking scenes ! :-) I suppose we can handle with that... Cool pic, Sharen ! One only little thing : it looks to me that a 'normal' rider could not ride under your covered bridge without crashing is head on the roof (I'm not sure it's correct english, but I hope you'll understand). Maybe it is the perspective that makes me wrong... For your problem, did you try to raise beyond 100 % the shadow setting of your volumetric light ? Argentium Thri'ile
Thread: How is this? | Forum: Vue
It looks brilliant for me ! :-) Sky and point of view are really good. Simple picture, lots of effect... An advice : don't say what it is !!! ;-) Argentium Thri'ile

I just want to wish good luck for all of you ! When some of you saw the original scene, I wanted advices 'cause I didn't know what to do with it. And just when I decided to give my file to the one who could want to build something with it, Guitta contacted me... and I'll be surely really pleased to see what you will build with it. :-) Thanks to you, Guitta ! Thread: New to Vue | Forum: Vue
Welcome pa902... "How long does it take to create these images?" Well, it depends what you'r talking about... How many time to build picture ? The time you'll spend asking yourself "Why ?". Then, you'll probably have to come here asking if you made something wrong, if Vue can't handle what you want, and perhaps if it's simply a bug... How many time to be able to build skill for making pictures as great as the Gebe's, Alekss', Varian's (and some others) one ? The more you'll have to fight the 'Why ?' problem, the more your skill will improve... :-) Argentium Thri'ile

Another adice : think that Stonehenge is not only a circle of dolmens... there are trees, grass, rocks surrounding this place... bring more life (and credibility) in this and you'll avoid the size problem !!! :-) Hope it can helps Argentium Thri'ile

Yep, your last version is much better. Though, there's still something that looks to me wrong. In fact, the circle of stone doesn't look massive for me. I just can't see it like dolmens, but like little stone assembled by a child. I think this is something with the point of view... What do you think about this, others ? Argentium Thri'ile

Why not download demos of WB, Bryce and Vue and make your decision easier. From what I remember, Vue4 demo is fully functionnal (even animation) but you can't save your scene, so you will be able to test if your compatible... :-) Argentium Thri'ile

Thread: wrong Vue Use ? | Forum: Vue
I don't think there is a good or a wrong way to use Vue, but the way fits you the best... :-) For layers, I would work on the scene you described with one layer for terrains, one for vegetations, one for people, one for the part of the scene that is the focus of your future picture, etc... For files, as I work a lot with textures, I usually create a particular file where I load one specifical element (people, object, building...) and I work the textures. The I save it and load it onto my main file project. Also, another way for setting textures and lights, I save my main project file to a temporary file and then I delete all elements that doesn't concern my purpose and work on it. Then, I save the final object as vob, and re-import it to my main file... The only advice I could think about is always having 2 distinct main files. And then, each time you complete a particular work, you save alternatively on one or the other. So, if you have a corrupting event, you just lost the last elemet you set up. Hope it helps...
