Thread: free sea ship models? -kinda urgent | Forum: Bryce
thankyou, sir Groingrinder.....glad to add that one to the collection. On a sad note, almost none of the ship models I've downloaded in the past are available anymore.

I'm with Spit, no new features. Hell, strip it down to the basics, I don't need a rendering engine, face room, nurb modeling, or bucket seats... I just need to pose stuff. Character rigging, customising and manipulation in a streamlined inexpensive package is what I want. Logical lights would be kinda nice, but that's not what I use poser for anyway.

Thread: a "limit" to bryce? | Forum: Bryce
Heh, not long ago I was browsing the Maya forum. Someone wanted to make terrains, and everyone told them to use Bryce or Terragen...odd that a peice of software costing thousands can't produce a better terrain than bryce. One good upgrade would put bryce right up there with the big dogs. Pity Corel didn't see that.
Thread: Another poser to bryce question | Forum: Bryce
One thing no one mentioned that has worked for me is to use the alpha of the texture, or the bump, to drive the diffusion. Doesn't work in every case, but you should see the mil dragon done that way...8^) Aye, it is best not to have ambiance and diffusion total over 100. For an outdoor type, sunlit image, I like diffuse at 85 and ambiance at 15, but for indoor artificially lit images I lower the ambiance to near zero. Outer space scenes get no ambiance at all. It can be difficult to get the effect you had in poser because of the differences in the way each program handles textures. The texture map itself is not the problem, but the underlying tint you can assign to objects in poser is not easily duplicated in bryce. The only way I know to do it is to modify the texture image in an image editor (photoshop, painter, the gimp). Something else to try...load one image texture in the 'A' channel, another in the 'B' channel, and a plain 50% gray image in the 'C'...you end up with a 50/50 mix of the two. That's something poser can't touch...
Thread: Bryce and Water | Forum: Bryce
I'm doing some experiments to simulate surf from a distance in bryce, using terrains and slope sensitive mats...Basically I'm using photoshop to make 'negatives' of the terrain the water is to be reacting with, and building ripples into the grayscale. Mixed results sofar, but it shows promise. I've noticed that terragen and mojoworld do a really nice job at this kind of thing....
Thread: So, you want my money | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"For example, some poses may include the moprh channels and change the shape of your character or they may have facial settings that change the expressions or the hip zTrans and xTrans settings may be off to one side. These aren't things that would cause it to fail testing, but they are annoying." Well spoken...I get annoyed as hell at free poses that do such things....If I payed for it I'd really be up in arms. That's just shoddy workmanship. I would never even consider buying from a merchant who hasn't given me a few free items to play with first.

Ah, lightwave....I was wondering what you modeled it in. Thank you for the blade, nice work.
Thread: Desperately looking for a hi-res VW model, any help would be greatly appreciated | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I saw one for free at a 3d model site, but I browsed alot of sites that day.... so there is a free model out there, you just have to find it. You could try asking around the modeling forums (maya, rhino, 3dsmax, etc...) here, I know the rhino guys do alot of cars. Wish I could be of more help....
Thread: Another Poser to Bryce problem.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you're using propack is is possible you selected the option 'as morph target' in the export options....don't do it... If that's not the case, I have seen it before, and have no idea why it does that occasionally.

Hey Garth, there is an excellent tutorial on this subject over at brycetech. Not familiar with p5, but with some tinkering image textures work very good in bryce. This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
