Thread: will objects created in 3DS Max work in Poser 5? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

It is available in 3ds format so you can import it into Poser. You will probobly have to scale it once you import it. There are different utilities available to do this. The one I use is the Ultimate Calipers by Les Bentley and available at the link above. The drawback of using 3ds models in Poser is that the facets tend to bulge outward. Turning off Smooth Facets in the preferences menu will generally not solve this problem completely. My solution is to export the model in .obj format and run it through UVMapper (smoooth, fix seams, weld & split vertices). There is a chance that some of the polygons will need to be inverted. This may take patience but UVMapper 3.2a makes it a lot easier than the previous version.Thread: A plea to the experienced to help the newbs! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have a shortcut to Poser 5 on my desktop. I unzip the folders to the desktop and put anything named "Runtime" in there.

I've complained about Poser's problems, too, but I realize that they come with the territory. Poser is on the edge of it's development. Whether this is the most highly developed software or not, CL is obviously thinking through something that has never been done before. And keeping it simple. I have found that Poser grows on me and the more I adapt to it's quirks the less I complain about it.
Thread: Shadow Casting Light Through Window | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
bushi I created the same setup but I'm having trouble reproducing the results. Could you let me know what settings you were using? It looks like Poser is reading the image on the transperency as a shadow, which would make sense. If so, Poser is creating shadows the same way nature does. That is the color of a shadow is the compliment of the color of the light source. I.e., red light creates green shadows, yellow light creates violet shadows, etc... This would explain why the image was "blue shifted." The colors in the cast image are compliments of the colors in the projected image. In theory a negative of that image on the glass should create an image that is orange shifted.
