Haven't even been able to install and run Daz Studio since version 2, yet Poser 8 runs fine. Every user has a preference. I don't like using Daz Studio, but I love using Daz figures. I love using Poser, but I don't like using the bundled Poser figures.
To be fair to vendors they can only create things using the software that they have at their disposal, and while some content says not for Daz Studio, much of it says simply that it hasn't been tested in DS. Most of the content on Daz's site works with both but here are many products that will only work in DS especially at the moment with the new Genesis figure.
The original poster is posting on the Poser forum that there isn't enough content for Daz Studio. There is a Daz Studio forum here and one on Daz's site as well as the "MarketPlace Wishing Well" forum here for making product requests to vendors in general. I am not having a go at anyone, just stating that this isn't the best forum to post on for what they want.

Thread: Interesting Teaser From DAZ | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Even if they did do so, there's nothing guaranteeing that Smith Mirco will feel it necessary to rework the rigging in Poser yet again to use the new system in Daz Studio.
True, but just as Daz's income partly relies on purchases from Poser users. Smith Micro could potentially lose some customers it it didn't at least partially support future figures from Daz. I've always said that I hate using Daz Studio and can never figure out how to use it, but I love their figures, I think that's what they do best. It is so long ago that I used the Poser bundled figures that I have trouble even remembering their names!
From what I've heard there never has been any bad blood between the two. They both work better when they work together. Everybody wins. :)

Quote - > Quote - And once those apps are updated to support Genesis, you will be ahead of the game! " [italics mine]
Well, it could mean that Smith Micro has come to a deal with DAZ to incorporate the rigging of Genesis into Poser.
Or it could mean that DAZ is being very, very, very optimistic, possibly foolishly so. I still think they rolled the figure out at the wrong time, and without first learning if Poser would have the capacity to use it.
Only way to be sure what this means though, is with time.
I think I read in the 3D World article that Daz had made the new coding / technology whatever available to other developers so that it can be used in their software. Daz have been pretty shrewd doing this, as they know that a vast amount of their customers are Poser users who for for one reason or another cannot or will not use Daz Studio. I would think that they make most of their money selling and brokering 3d content.

It's not a teaser. the genesis figure is the new one included in Daz Studio 4.
Although it says that they are not asking us to change software, basically they are saying "try out Daz Studio 4 and the genesis figure while they are still free, then when Poser, Carrara etc are updated to accept the new figure, you will already have experience using it"
In other words "try our software, you might like it so much that you keep using it!" ;)

"Sex sells"
Even free stuff apparently. The number of items in freestuff and the gallery tagged nudity that have nothing of the sort. Is this done so people will click on the link?
Not that I go looking specifally for it :) , but if something is tagged nudity, that's what I expect, not a character that's covered up more than the one in thefixer's avatar 7 posts above this one!

How is this a photoshop freebie? Thought it was some sort of plugin that made stuff look like it was embroidered.
Aside from a free quote, this looks like spam for a picture to embroidery service

This is semi related to posts in this topic, so please bear with me.
Previous posters have mentioned using xml files to create groups of materials for pose2lux. I was wondering what xml editors they like to use/ think are the best/ easiest to use (preferably free, not only for creating files for pose2lux). I've never created or edited xml before, but would like to get started.
Thankyou

Thread: DAZ Elite series textures for V4 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There's several threads at Daz asking about the morph used in the promotional image with the woman getting out of the water. As far as I know, no-one has said what it is yet. Probably a custom morph that that artist does not want to share or sell, which is fair enough I suppose.
Although it clearly states that it is just the textures, I've often looked at some of these images selling textures at Daz hoping that the morph was included or at least credited, so that I could either buy it and the texture or on it's own. Sometimes a great morph can make an ok texture look good and vice versa.
At least here at Rendo. many of the merchants do credit other products that they have used in their promotional images. That would make me possibly buy both products.

Thread: Rendering a panoramic image in Poser Pro 2010 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There was a tutorial somewhere on the net that gave instructions on how to create the "mirrored ball" technique in Bryce, then use a free plugin that you could use in photoshop to convert it to equirectangular image. The trick was to place the ball at the right height in the scene and have the camera looking down directly over it. This could possibly be adapted for Poser, and would look great rendered in Lux using Pose2Lux.

You weren't doing anything at all wrong, but it had been several versions since I checked what happened when no LUX materials were asssigned :-)
Thankyou, will give this another go.

Yes! before anyone says anything I kept reversing the name, Pose2Lux became Lux2Pose, but that's what it's called in the mirror universe where I used to live. I even had the beard, but had to shave it off, so I could replace my doppelganger here. Mwuh, hu huh!

When I close the message lux2pose says that it is still proccessing V4, but hangs and doesn't do anything. When I close it and try to open the resulting file it aborts, and I get the error log (bottom of picture) obviously because lux2pose didn't complete the export.
What am I doing wrong? Hopefully it's not my antiquated computer that can't handle it! :)

Someone on the forums over there has started a tread for posting new materials until the database is back up. Only a few on it including a jade material.

Thread: extreme OT: Why are British programs so much funnier? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Frankly, I find Ricky Gervias' brand of humor much closer to the American than to the British. It lacks wit.
Laurie
That's kind of what I thought. His jokes were in the "roasting" style. I saw the Shatner comedy roast and some of the Pamela Anderson one. Channel 4 here have started making their own ones with British "celebs", but I think they can be a bit too near the knuckle. I assumed that as it seemed to be an American tradition and the difference in humour that it would have gone down better with the US. Possibly it seemed worse to the US audience than past roasts because it was a British comic doing it? and some Americans are under the misconception that the Brits are always polite, the same way American tv seems to portray Canadians.
