I upgraded to Snow Leopard on Friday, the upgrade took about 50 minutes.
Initial impressions, apps launch a lot faster, and it has some nicer win 7 like features in the dock, where you can group your apps.
It also freed around 7 gigs of space - more room for the runtime :)
I have not really had a time to go through it completely, but I have tried out a few of the program like Cinema and Poser and both feel snappier.

I echo that the best option is to download the trials and see which one works best for you.
I'm partial to Cinema 4D with the InterPoser plugin (Kuroyumes), but I'm more of a hobbiest and needed something that I don't have to relearn when I don't get to it for a few months.

Careful with memory you want to make sure you match your dimms. If the timings are off you could get some interesting issues that can manifest themselves through crashes, etc.
You can get around some of the issues by manually setting the timings in the BIOS, but its best just to make sure you match your memory in pairs. Any modern mother board color codes the dimm slots, pair them with the same color coding

Thread: I'm not having any fun with Poser and Vista | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The biggest problem with Vista is the UAC, and as its new protection scheme to prevent things from being written to the Program Files directory.
There are many things you can try and a quick search of this forum will turn up many additional things you can try.
One set Poser to run in administrative mode
Two you can try turning off the UAC (Open up Control Panel, and type in "UAC" into the search box. You'll see a link for "Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off")
Just do a quick search on this forum and vista to see the other recommendations.

Thread: Quick Question re Runtimes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
For me personally on my Windows machine I will do a complete fresh install of Windows and my applications - probably yearly. On the Mac it may be closer to 2 years. I'm currently in the process of rebuilding my Mac now and it is definitely not for the faint of heart. For me personally it makes sure that all of my content is current as when I re-download it I'm assured it has all the latest updates to the figures and other bundles.
This is just my personal taste in order to keep my machine in top performance, after a year or two there is just so much bloatware that accumulates over time.

You would be better off getting an external USB drive
480 Mb/s (max) vs 100 Mb/s (max)

I have to agree with Luke. Sometimes the best thing you can do is an organized re-install. I know it takes a long time, but many time you find models that you just no longer need. Overall the new performance gain in loading your runtimes over time should more than make up for the few days of re-installing. I probably do a re-install once a year though.

That certainly is an adorable, can you believe that their the size of a thumb when born.
This loris would be an excellent character in a Pixar movie.
I do agree with Laurie though seeing this primate in capacity is a little sad.

Thread: Batch Zipping (Help Needed) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sorry I misunderstood the real root of your problem.
In the Zip Options are you sure your setting Preserve File Paths?
Right Click Folder WinZip -> Add to Zip File
Type in the FileName you want.
Under Options make sure you check Save full path info
That will preserve your path information that you are looking for.
