Any models I saved under Build 42999 are now damaged but I can import them again under Build 43993 and they render just fine except for one problem. If you look at the image attached you can see my textures for this model only nolonger matchs up were it did in previous versions.
So that's going to need fixing.
IÂ also did some tests to see if they got the problem regarind the render bucket leaving marks and sadly that one still remains.
All in all it's better than the previos version.

James

Hello.
You could start by populating the island with actual trees and rocks. Give it some life and a focal point of interest. Maybe even big castle right at the top.
Rather than wondering how to do things first, let your imagination run wild and think for a moment what you would love to see on the island. ONce you have an idea then try make it happen. It's the best way to learn.
Kind Regards

Thread: I can see the Buckets in my render :-( | Forum: Vue
Hi Ruta.
It's when it was set to Volumetric Sunlight that I had all the Bucket marks in my image. When I set it to "No shaddows on clouds" the problem went away. Quite odd really.
If you like you can download the files I sent to e-on for testing.
http://www.irishacts.com/water.zip
The zip contains the model, scene and the first image posted at the start of the thread.

That sounds like the one Frank, can't say for sure though until my Laptop is finished rendering.
From memory what I can say is that it is a drop down menu item with 3 options, and it is in the bottom right of a page. IÂ think the effects page but from what I just said above I'm sure you can verify this exactly.
I have disabled this feature altogether and the problem went away. It's a bug for sure so I will send a report along with my files over to e-on in the morning. I'll have to leave my laptop on all night rendering.
Kind Regards

Hi Shawn.
It only happens when rendering at high resolutions, any high resolution at that. DPI settings makes no difference.
With regards to my tests with the Chrome and Mirror materials, it seems I was wrong and this did not solve the problem. All it did was shift the area where the Bucket leaves marks in the rendering. I didn't spot this until I started rendering the full image again later.
I've spent the entire day running test renders turning off / on options one by one until I found the little sucker that was causing the problem. This time I'm 100% sure I got this nailed down.
Can't tell you the exact name of the setting causing this right now as my laptop is rendering and will be for the next 8 hour. I'm on my Netbook right now. I will post my findings tomorrow though.
All I can say right now is that it's a single option in the Atmosphere editor. I think it was on the Effects page, last option on the bottom right.

James

Quote - It does look like an ugly bug. I suggest that you raise a ticket at e-on and send them the file.
Ok will do. Lucky enough I can use the Mirror and still get the same effect I want, so I won't have to wait for e-on to sort this out.
Quote - Your image looks very good. Like you wrote, I also have the feeling this isn't done often in 3D and so I made something, a long time ago... well, not similar but inspired on... :-)

Excellent :-)
Haven't seen that one before even though I've had you on my favourites list for a while and I've followed your work very closely. You have such wonderful imagination and the skills to create what you see in your mind. Respect..!!!!!!

Thread: I can see the Buckets in my render :-( | Forum: Vue
Hi Ruta
Ok I found the cause, but I don't under stand the reason why I have this problem.
I'm trying to render this image at high res.
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1921297
The material used is the "Clear Water" preset, and the atmosphere is again another preset. Outside the image in the top right I have very large Chrome Cube to refelect light back into the image and from what I can see this is clearly the cause.
I can verify this by setting the material of the cube to a Mirror material the problem goes away, when I set it back to Chrome the problem comes back again.
So I know that's the cause, but the marks left behind are from the render bucket. It's not a refelection from the cube.
Any ideas ?
This problem can be seen in every render mode I've tried from Final right through to use mode.

James

PS.... I'm just trying the settings that silverblade33 posted in another thread to see if that makes a differance.
Seems the rendering times are way faster. What took 7 hours last night is going to take 1h 30min now. Guess I'll see soon enough then.

Hi Bobby.
All Dollars have 100 cents in a 1 dollar bill, so it makes no difference if your using Australian, American or Canadian dollars. It will work with them all.

Thread: Alpha Planes are killing me. | Forum: Vue
Thanks for the tip silverblade.
I've just tried what you suggested, and that does seem to be the direction to go for sure, but I'm not able to get button to glow at this point. I think I just need to sit down and learn about theses settings your referring to in order to understand exactly what I need to do.
Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help guys.
I've finished the model tonight, well....all I'm going to do on it for a while anyway.

I need to go away and learn how to make the buttons glow before I can ever finish this. The buttons should be a slightly transparent plastic and to the left there should be a light bulb underneath the button. I'm not able to get Vue to reproduce this effect as I see it on the real M3-M device.
If you like, you can check out a video of me playing the real unit live on YouTube. All the sounds are coming from the unit, the piano I'm playing is only used as the midi controller for the module.

Hi Rutra
Thanks a million for your advice.
I didn't know about that billboard feature, but it wasn't enabled.
Quote - I notice that some text didn't change and is ok in the 2nd render. Are these also alphaplanes?
Yes, they are and thank you for pointing that out. You got me curious as to why they didn't change so I started to compare everything.
Believe it or not all this is down to the Z value and the position of the alpha plane above the buttons. The text that looks ok in both images is slightly raised off the buttons more than the other text. So I reset the Z value for all faulty alpha planes to the same as the one that was working right.
lol... that did the trick. Seems vue doesn't like me being as accurate as I was because the text was raised off the buttons for every alpha plane. Strange it would work close-up- but not when you moved the camera away.
Here's a quick render showing the full model now with the text working.
http://www.irishacts.com/misc/m3-complete-text-render1.jpg
Thanks for your help mate. I've been so frustrated with trying to get this right that it never even clicked with me to check the settings of the alpha plane that was working.
Do you think this is something I should report to e-on ?. It certainly doesn't seem like normal operation.

Thread: Vue7 Infinity Node Locked ?. | Forum: Vue
Hi All.
Just a quick note to say that I didn't have to contact E-on in the end. I installed Infinity on my main PC first and went though the automatic registration. Rebooted and then went off and installed it on my Laptop eactly as I did on my main PC.
I was automatically issued my activation number for laptop too :-)
Just letting people know in case this comes up again at some point.
Regards.
