Thread: A Dummies Guide to Indirect Lighting in Poser 8 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I got too excited by how much better it is now. So fast, so smooth. It's like a different program.
[EDIT] Just got notice it's fixed already.
Wheeee! Go Stefan!

Yeah, looks like it should be something like that. Assuming that gets fixed, it's looking very good!

Quote - Grrr. I'm seeing a new kind of artifact. We're rid of the splotchies, but look at the bottom of the big ball. There is a hard transition in luminance from one band to another. The assignment of samples to the ball is too sparse, even though I've made adjustments trying to get them more frequent.

I wonder if this is why LightWave put in the Angular Tolerance control?

I, for one, will keep playing, but then I've invested a lot already. BB in another thread says that the internals of IDL are the same but the interpolation is changed. From BB's posted picture and render time, I'm hoping I will still get a good feel for how the controls work, just that I will be allowed looser accuracy criteria and will get faster renders for the same result. So, I'd guess it depends on how patient you are, long-term vs. short-term.

Quote - I've been testing SR1. Big difference.

Maybe a little more anti-aliasing for that ball shadow? And a bit of contouring on the dim side of the ball itself. Is there a one bit artifact along the center-right bottom, or are my eyes playing tricks on me? Meanwhile:

sigh Oh, well, I can manage fairly well with what I have in the meantime. I seem to be skirting most of the artifacts most of the time. I hope if the internals are radically changed, Stewer will at least provide another pointer to technical papers on how it will then work.

The book can't possibly tell you the best way to use IDL, because the way it worked is not how it will work in SR1.
Oh, no! Am I going to have to put myself and everybody else through that again?

Gareee - > Quote - Actually, Scaling in clothing does work properly, if you rig it and set it up for a figure designed with scaling in mind.
Lyrra just got done working on something for Luthbel's werewolf, supporting the scaling I put into nightwolf plus.
She just used my cr2 as a base for the clothing, and then did the adjustment morphs needed for the ERC.
...Freak 4's scaling works in poser, but you need to fiddle around with him to get things done properly.. just like poser items in DS that use propagating scaling also need additional fiddlign around to do the same thing they do in poser.
Is this fiddling possible by the end user of the figure/clothing? If so, is there a description of what to do anywhere? Thanks.

Apparently there is some sort of grotesque cross-talk going on here. The first item of clothing loaded will fit and conform correctly, but subsequent items will not. Any suggestions on how to deal with this?

Ok, something is screwy.
Poser 8
New document, delete Andy so no figures
Load base F4
Set F4 Body FreakScaleOn=0
Load each Mafioso clothing item and conform it to Michael 4 ,a.k.a., F4
This is what I get. Not at all what you get.

Thread: Freak 4 in Poser...? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Argh. This is why all my guys keep complaining about the cold. So, FreakScaleOn is worse than useless in Poser and I can't make F4 that big if he's going to wear anything? Or is FreakScaleOn doing something hidden that can be done another way? And I just took a stab at Mafioso and that looks like there is no way it can fit anything like the size of Base F4? How do I learn how to navigate the clothing chaos? Help!
