If you had Poser 4, ProPack or 5, and carrara 4 with transposer or carrara 4 pro, and DAZ mimic, you can do automatic lipsynching on your poser characters, and import them right into carrara for rendering. Carrara 4 is very compatible with poser, you can build a character in carrara and bring it into poser and rig it for animation. It's also easy to create conforming or dynamic clothing in carrara, and even import poser 5 scenes that use dynamic cloth!

"Obviously, this is very early in construction, but if any of you see something that I'm doing that's going to cause me grief in the near future, please let me know!" show us some wireframes....

"without visual clues, internet communication is definately more difficult and does lead to more misunderstandings than face to face communications." an extensive set of emoticons can help too....

"A lot of artists participate in the creation and enjoyment of games. There have been several games that use products purchased right here at Renderosity. We believe that gaming is a relevant topic to graphic artists that participate in their creation and/or enjoy playing these games. This forum gives them an area to explore this creative sector." A lot of artists create artwork that is either directly or indirectly inspired by the political and social climate of the time. Picasso's "Guernica" comes to mind, as well as plenty of works that have even been posted here on Renderosity. We (former denizens of the den) believe that political and social discussion is relevant to the artists who are inspired by such things/or enjoy participatin in discussions of this nature, and wish we still had a forum to explore that creative sector... LornaW: I think the point that's being made is that the gaming forum has about as much to do with art as the Den, or the old OT forum (or the Tavern, or the C&D forum) and uses up about as much time and resources, and yet one is allowed to remain, and the other(s) are not.... One can only wonder: if they DID shut the gaming forum down, and the gamer/artists here had the audacity to question why, or ask for it back, would they also get responses like this: I'm sure there are 1000s of gaming forums on the net. Why not find them? WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (what's with that one anyway? is it supposed to be like, 'Wah, crybaby, crybaby! Oh, boohoo, I don't have anyplace to talk to my artist friends about stuff not directly related to art.... Why don't you go find somebody who cares?!')

Thread: vertex and smoothing question | Forum: Carrara
Well, my example was made in C4Pro, so..... But it's a result of carrara's N-gons. Carrara is one of a small # of 3D programs that can have polygons with a virtually infinite # of sides, Biggert's "canopener", for example, has 14 sides. Most other progams won't fill in a polygon with higher than 4, possibly 5, sides. If you're building for export to another program, you'd have to do this anyway(I usually run almost everything through Poser5, even though I bring the poser files back into Carrara for rendering.). Also, if biggert or I had chosen to extrude on a different axis, we'd never have encountered "pac-man syndrome".

Glad I could help. That kind of looks like the can opener that the mouse wouldn't let sylvester have in that old cartoon...

Claudio, are you using windows? If so, then you can just hit the "print screen" button on the keyboard, then open up photoshop or other image editor, make a new file, and paste, et viola! a screenshot!

The twisting at the waist is very unnatural, it kinda makes him look like an animatronic figure from Disneyland..... The hall of dictators maybe? That sweeping gesture should be roughly 60% shoulder, 25% head, and 15% waist (Rotate chest or abdomen, not hips). Try it like that and it should look a lot more natural.
