My apologies. I sometimes ask these questions before doing all the research I should have first. I see that there are some rooms in the free stuff area, and that they are no doubt accomplished by using that square/wall prop. Thank you! Cenozoite

Ahh, right you are. I admit that I didn't notice this when I tried it, probably because I was paying more attention to texture detail and hoping it would improve. Also something I forgot to mention is that unfortunately I don't have this "Bryce" that is so frequently mentioned, or any other 3D programs for that matter. So, I'm stuck with Poser and its capabilities for the moment ;) Cenozoite

Wow, I'm learning a lot here, hehe. I had no idea there was any such thing as postwork, using paint programs etc. For the moment I'll see what results I can get with better lights and focal length. By the way, when I change the focal length it doesn't seem to make any difference. It just zooms out further and I have to manually zoom back in, but the end result looks the same. My mistake somewhere I'm sure. Papu, I'm not sure what you mean by trying a different texture on Dacia.. isn't the one in the thumbnail the same one she comes with in the free download? Anyway, I'm going to try everything I can do the best of my ability. I'm relatively new to Poser (a few months on and off) so some of this stuff is still a bit out of my depth, but I'll get there. :) Cenozoite

Thanks all, I am pursuing each of these suggestions as I write this, and I'm sure I'll achieve some noticeable improvements. When I have something worthwhile I'll post it as an example of the progress made :) In the past i have been loath to messwith lights, as they seemed a bit complex. But with these mentioned ones, am I correct in assuming that I just load them in once and then leave them alone? No further manipulation required? I will be reading the tutorial but I just thought I'd get a quick idea here. Thanks!

Thread: Please help! Big problem with transparency | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks guys, you're both completely right. Either by applying that MAT pose or manually setting the falloff and highlight size to zero, everything works perfectly. I'm not sure why, but for some reason when I wrote my initial message, things just were not working even with those settings in place. I got a dull purple shadow regardless of what I did with settings. I have no idea why that was occuring, but now it all seems to work as expected and hassle-free. Many thanks! I just wanted to make sure I could alter clothing with simple transmaps and without using real textures. Partly for speed and convenience, and partly because my system memory is quite low and loading in textures seems to tax it more, so I sometimes try to stick with basic colors instead. Cenozoite

Thanks LD, you're a lifesaver. I'm just wondering, is that the correct technique that I used, applying the transmap as a texture map as well? I noticed that if I don't do that, and leave the texture as "none", even if I do everything you said, set everything as pure black and minimum values, I still get that purple glassiness regardless. Supposed zero reflectivity, ambience and highlight still produce that glass outline until I do that magic step of applying the transmap as a texture. Is this right, or am I just nuts? Cenozoite
Thread: Please help: Is there a tank top for Posette? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hey everyone, thanks for the further replies.. I am getting Gimp at the moment and am sure I'll find it more pleasant to work with than MS Pain (not a typo). By the way, Little Dragon, how/where did you get those transmaps? They don't seem to come included with poser for any of the basic clothing figures, so what should I do if I want further ones, rather than having to bug you for them? Is there a method for creating them or something? Cenozoite

Thanks a million, that's perfect! :) I am actually using MS Paint at the moment, hehe.. I know I should use a more advanced program but for the moment Paint should serve my purposes okay since I only have to draw one horizintal line and do a black fill. I will of course move up to better editors as necessity demands. Much gratitude! :) Cenozoite
Thread: Please Help! Does anyone know where "BAT Lab" downloads are?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Heh, I'm actually trying that right now, but with the leotard instead as it's closer to a tank top to start with. I'm just trying to find the basic standard unedited leotard transmap so I can cut off the bottom part and leave the top intact. Little Dragon has been of great assistance, I'm just trying to figure out how to work with a 3D transmap as all the ones I've seen so far are flat 2D ones. I've also found the Bat guy's email address and sent him a short request about his item. Thanks! :) Cenozoite

Wow, thanks a lot, this is great. I'm going to work on it right now. Oh, er.. I truly don't mean to make multiple requests, but is there any way for me to have it all just be white to start with? Like exactly the way the default one would appear if totally unedited? I'm still sort of new to this and all the transparency maps I've seen so far are two-dimensional so this is sort of new. Since I only want to black out the bottom and not do any really fancy seam editing, can I get it to start all entirely white and possibly two-dimensional? Apologies if my level of expertise is too rudimentary to know how to do something simple. Thanks again.. Cenozoite

Thanks for your reply. I just checked those two sites but didn't find anything similar to what I'm looking for. Do you happen to know off hand where I can get the standard beginning black-white transmap for the P4 leotard? Like a basic one that mimics the leotard itself exactly? I figure I can just lop the bottom off to form a rudimentary tank top if I absolutely can't find one elsewhere.. Thanks! Cenozoite
