Interesting Idea. Yeah, I've tried it; I'm a sucker for cool FX. :) I've found it to be relatively straightforward. Insert Fog -> set slider to last keyframe, make completion 100%. It doesn't "billow". I don't remember if there is a wind function in Carrara, but I would definately look to MAX or LW for this.. :)

Also I would maybe model a cap or something at the end of the Left arm. It looks like it was just extruded.... The cap, and maybe various other parts, like joints should be a metallic color or something...

I think it would look cool with camo colors. And some weathering. It's hard to do with a procedural texture, but layers should work well enough. 100 hours!? Wow. I wish I had that kind of drive... Hoborg
Thread: Rotoscoping problem | Forum: Carrara
I may be wrong, but what if you have a plane with the avi on it instead? I don't have Carrara here at work, but I seem to remember actual TEXTURES rotoscoping as you move the slider bar, assuming, of course, that you are in view texture mode... I'll check when I get home. Hoborg

Ahhh... Carrara... When will it not be buggy? When I first installed it, I couldn't use the camera controls.... But then I re-installed it and it was fine; maybe you should give that a try. Hoborg

I think it actually looks pretty cool. Anime-like. I don't know about the dreadlocks to begin with. But I love your character. Hoborg
Thread: A Cool Poser Interface Trick | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You know, I discovered that by accident, too. Every time I use my task bar to switch out of Poser and then back, I get the paint bucket, which I don't want, and Before you knew it I was getting a new UI color everyday. But I like the dismal grey. I guess when you know about it, it's not so great. :)
Thread: Transparency Maps Help | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Basically it's an image map that looks at Value only. That's how black or white or blue or red, etc. A pixel is. If it's COMPLETELY black, that pixel will be transparent in the program. Conversely, if it's white that pixel will show up at 100% opacity. If it's between the extremes, it will be somewhat transparent. So, if you had an image of a leaf, for example, you could make a transparency map of two colors (black and white) to make Just the leaf appear in your scene, without the border of the original leaf image. That way, you could just slam the leaf map and the trans map on a plane, and have it look like a leaf, since all you could see was the leaf part, whereas otherwise you would have to model the leaf. They are used primarily in poser to create more realistic-looking hair, with individual strands, and also to make more transparent clothing for the already scantily-clad posette. Hoborg

Chip, That is the COOLEST reason I have EVER heard for taking a class. Was it "Computerworld"?
Thread: Poser 2 Canoma | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There really isn't much "rendering" in Canoma. I would make scenes in Canoma and put them into Poser to edit them there. They are small files, being of low-poly geometry. Hoborg
Thread: Is my WIP done yet? | Forum: Carrara
Dethblud- This is much better than the first one, so my hat is off to you there. I think there is a plug-in for Carrara that allows "glowing" objects to actually cast light. I would recommend (if it's free :) ) to nab that and try it out on the candles. I can't tell if the candles are illuminating anything at all. Also, if you want to focus attention, try the "Depth of Field" option, to make the background slightly out of focus. Mark, you rule. But get a life. :) Hoborg
Thread: Assault Mech (part 2, legs) Comments pls! | Forum: Carrara
All I mean is that the poly count looks a little high. And actually there is a way to Boolean in the spline room, but only subtracting and only with another part of the same model. It's called "compounding" Make two squares in the spline room, one bigger than the other, and little one inside the big one, then click on create as compound. Hoborg PS. no one likes MIDIs.
