Thanks for all your responses, and you've all put my mind at ease - I was concerned that I wasn't doing it right. But having read these posts I realise that that's complete BS - there isn't a 'right' way. You've all made a lot of points which I agree with which I'll summarise here: 1. Modelling in Bryce is fast and you get quick turn around with your ideas, 2. If you can't do it in Bryce, drop out to another app and do it in that, 3. The only 'real modeller' is the person doing it - he/she could edit DXF files in Notepad if they really wanted, thats up to them 4. There isn't a 'right' way - just a way thats right for you, So - I'm going to stick with the way I'm doing it, and feel happy about it too :o) When I'm further on in my Time Machine, I probably will replace the 40-odd lattices (1024x1024 each) with Wings3D objects to reduce the poly count, but 1. I can't be bothered, 2. they look fine, 3. my machine copes with it no problems. electroglyph made a good point - there are plenty of apps, bantam grass, windome, spiralizer, elefont, that are free and do their specific job extremely well, and I have no problems with this approach at all. Plus I don't have the money for those other apps LOL. Thanks again :o)

Very nice! and the most I've been able to do in Wings so far is an 5-poly prism for my time machine LOL

Wade - thanks for the 3D Commune info Diane - good idea! I already use Elefont for other things (as well as their other product, Spiralizer)

This has happened to me so often that I've lost count - I've taken to initially naming the file with a number - e.g. "My Project 1.br5" - then whenever I save it I always use 'Save As...' cos Bryce automatically increases the number - e.g. for my Time Machine I'm now up to "Time Machine 38.br5". Hope this helps.

Thanks AS - I had a feeling I was going to need to use terrains - I was originally thinking of modelling the thing in primitives and then using negative terrains to carve parts out. Appreciate your help :o)

Haven't actually started the chair yet - it's a bit daunting (and anyways I got a few things to do before that)... Be warned - the drawings are small and the photos aren't much help ;o) Attached link is to the drawings. Link to photos: http://www.colemanzone.com/Time_Machine_Project/dw_chair.htm Also a guy built a model and has lots of good photos: http://www.colemanzone.com/Time_Machine_Project/r_cooper(2).htm Thanks for even looking at them!Thread: OT: web galleries and forum systems | Forum: Bryce
Hmm... I put my first stuff up on bryce5.net - and you're right, the inability to log in and stuff did drive me away - however, it drove me here! Glad to see you're planning to do something about it; I don't have any suggestions about other gallery/forum systems, sorry!

Hehe - anyways I'm happy with using the lattices and I'm not particularly good with 'proper' modellers...

Everyone - Thanks! electroglyph - Great idea, but... I hate to think what the render time will be when I actually put it in a scene hehe TheBryster - you're absolutely right, it IS just the engine at the moment and isn't anywhere near finished Rayraz - thanks! - glass prism modelled in Wings3d (5 polys ;o) - the rest is primitives, except the curved arms which are lattices (which made the polygon count so high)

Thanks Catlin! I like the way it's turning out so far - may end up being a long way from the Dreamworks one but still, I'm having fun :o)
