Yes, Daz sells the Tailor. Daz also sells morphs to make the Michael 1 clothing pack fit almost all of Michael 2's morphs. They sell this for $18.00 les than they sell The Tailor. So, someone who doesn;t have Mike 2 but has the Michael clothing pack can make Mike one look pretty darn close to Mike 2. Therefore, Daz has done and gone and violated their own policy and should, at the earliest convenience hire a lawyer and sue themselves silly. Drag it out forever, reach an out-of-court settlement, pay themselves off and come back scarred, but ready to carry on. Until they realise that their customer base has dwindled down to their inlaws and a few close friends. Anyone remember the Pets.com sock puppet? Exactly....

You know, you really clarified something for me. I've been reading this, rereading this, looking over the FAQ and other things at DAZ and even though something seemed obviously wrong on a deeper level, it wasn't until you said: "If all the morphed bodysuits that were Tailor made go away why still should I or anyone buy Mike 2(even though I did way back)since now DAZ themselves sell a Tailor made bodysuit? People could just buy that and use it on Mike 1 without buying Mike2." That made the little light inside the head go on for me. It seems ludicrous to complain about a $30.00 item being used to approximate the look of Michael 2's morphs when for only $12.97 you could buy the dial settings for ALL of Michaels clothing and never, ever need to purchase Michael 2. I keep thinking of cliches my grandmother used...things like "The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing" and "cutting off their nose to spite their face". I tried not to get mad, I really did.

Good Luck getting the page to load. Looks like the server over there is a bit taxed since this all broke loose.

No one stating that that is a problem, Sharen, we all agree that doign that is wrong. The problem is, the way it looks, is that Daz is going to prohibit distribution of items created with The Tailor for Michael2 and Vicky 2. The Tailor only approximates morphs, it doesn't copy them, therefor Daz would be totally off base is disallowing this sort of item.

Butt it's like JeffH said, The Tailor only approximats the morphs, it doesn't apply them. There's no violation, period. That's the problem. DAZ may be trying to way overstep their boundries.

Bad Joke...ok. ok.. :) BUT! c1rcle said: "next thing you know Daz will be saying anyone who d/l cooler's banana is breaking the law cause it looks like theirs." Could anyone imagine Cooler being accused of warezing? LOL! If Alanis ever wrote an Ironic2, she could use that in a line of the song, "It's like Cooler being accused of distributing warez/Oh isn't it ironic..." =) I have heard that Cooler is employed by DAZ so it could very well be his banana, But, anyway, I'll stop trying to lighten the mood. Proceed....

but.... The rumour mill when it comes to Poser and Poser related merchandise has always been rampant and vicious. Things start out with an simple statement and end in an all out flame war. This is something that I just heard..I DO NOT know if this is true or not... I have heard that Poser5 will contain its own clothing "designer" in which any article of clothing can be made to fit any other character. (Again this is hearsay.) If this is true, the need for The Tailor will be eliminated. If this is also true, does this mean DAZ could sue the creator of the very program they make their living on because it contains a vehicle to potentially offer copyright violations. Napster was shut down because they offered the potential to copyright. They didn't offer the copyrighted material. Think about it. Think about this, too. If CL does indeed have a clothing morpher in P5 and if, as rumour has it, that P5 is going to be introduced at Siggraph (sp?), isn't rather convenient that DAZ had come up with such an announcement this close to Siggraph. Sounds more to me like one hand is washing the other and the consumer is getting the no grease/no kiss delivery. But like I said, the Poser rumour mill is a vicious place to be. It could all just be smake and mirrors from someone revels in stirring stuff up. I am going to remain indifferent about this until DAZ replies. But either way, as the end user, we are the true leaders of these companies. We dictate whether they succeed or fail. If these things do indeed happen, then the easiest recourse would be to stop buying until things change. And if we do stop buying, they will, quickly.

how egos get in the way of craft. I just had to deal with this last week. Same subjects, same item, same results. It's like "I didn't like Dad's answer so I'm gonna go ask Mom!" sigh...

Dave - Don't let it stress you. :) Think of the old adage - "If it ain't broke don't fix it." :) I make my living working with NT based systems and high-end design programs (Unigraphics/Inventor/Mastercam) and we use lots of tricks to enhance system performance.

You would have to change the swap file in Windows. Unless youa re using a Macintosh, you can not allocate memory to Poser.

Oh yeah almost forgot, some cookies are innocent and just hold your place or retain your log in info so you dont have to relog every time to visit. The second one can be not so innocent if the cookie uses your IP address as am identifier and you log in from an open computer lab at the local college or library. Some cookies are not so innocent. Some record every single web page that you visit and report the information back to a processing agency under the guise of demographical research. Among the things that these little e-beasties can report are the contents of your HDD, including "naughties", (warez and porn), and can even transfer the encrypted files that retain your credit card and banking info, website passwords, etal. If anyone is unfortunate enough to use Gator, that info has ben passed many times over. These transfers go by so quickly that it may only register as a little flicker on the activity light to those of us with cable modems. Anyway, I've got to go save the collegiate world from pebcaks and ID-Ten-Tees. Everyone have a great day. :)

It's not the web host or the banner, Ron, I just went to your site and got the same message. It is the counter that you use. They are forcing cookies through the counter to visitors web sites. They are using you as a host for the web site tracking. Even more heinous, they make you pay so much a year to them to use you as a host for their tracking. I would dump them asap. Try www.bravenet.com for free counters and a ton of other webmaster goodies.

Just a little addendum to what what wrote, most of which is accurate and helpful. It is advantageous to keep your swap file off of the same drive as your systems files. Actually the best-case-scenario is to spread the swap file across as many physical drives as possible without using the system files drive at all. Now unless you are running a server class machine with multiple HDD's this is not a realistic option, and neither is spanning the swap file across multiple partitions of one physical drive. The latter is definitely a no-no. For hardcore NT'ers, never put your pagefile (swap file) on a drive that is mirrored or has fault tolerance enabled. The swap file does not require fault-tolerance, and drives with this enabled are much slower than other drives. I have a main drive of 80 gigs that is partitioned into 5 16 gig drives. One drive is for Poser, Bryce, and Photoshop only. I have a seperate install of Poser on another partition just to install/test/whatever things to make sure they install correctly/work properly/don't suck befoe installing them into my working Poser application. This helps keep the size of my working Poser directory under control. Also, most importantly, I have a seperate, physical 30 gig 7200RPM drive that has nothing installed on it and exits only to hold my swapfile. The difference is system performance is amazing. Hope this helps is some way. :)
