The 'User Interface' section at http://www.physicalc-software.com describes the 'Reparent Props' function. That button is not enabled unless the scene contains parented Props. AFAIK, it does not relate to Figures.

Thread: Poser physics 2012 released | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Further to my earlier bug report, I am (currently) unable to reproduce them at will. In the meantime; I have found PoserPhysics to be generally efficient and easy to use.
Thread: Poser physics 2012 released | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
In my 1st hour of using it, I have managed to get some unhelpful errors:
File "C:Program FilesSmith MicroPoser Pro 2012RuntimePythonposerScriptsPoserPhysicsPhysicsWxP9.py", line 435, in endSimulation
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'endSimulation'
assertion "bNormalizationResult" failed in ....includeode/odemath.h:444
Thread: Task Manger and Handles. Poser Pro 2012 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
May we clarify. I have one PC.
a) When running Queue Manager, that EXE runs at at 'Normal'. That is suitable to me.
b) Whenever Queue Manager starts an instance of FFRender, those separate processes run 'Below Normal'. That is suitable to me.
c)Â If I render from Poser, asking it not to render in a separate process; then the effect in Task Manager is for the Poser exe to run a high CPU in the Posers 'Normal' process. And no separate process is visible. That makes sense to me.
d) If I render from Poser, asking it to render in a separate process; then Task Manager shows the temporary instance of a FFRender process. But, that process no longer runs in Posers 'Normal' setting. On my machinem that new process is always set to "Below Normal".
Thread: Task Manger and Handles. Poser Pro 2012 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
SM's Support appear to accept that excessive Handles can occur when running the Renders in Poser's process. Changing my preference to Render in a separate process removed the problem (and as suggested in the post from aRtBee) immediately.
One of the undocumented effects of Rendering in a separate process is the 'Base Priority' of the rendering engine. When run in Poser's process, it runs at 'Normal'. But, when ran as a separate process, it uses "Below Normal". SM are now aware of that issue.
In effect, if the PC is busy (e.g. doing a Queue Manager job); and the User wants to Render 'in a separate process'; then the render will take a long time to complete - as it has the same priority as any other instances of FFRender.
Thread: Task Manger and Handles. Poser Pro 2012 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for your responses. I have now emailed SM and reported the issue.
Given my past experience of their Support system, I don't expect much; but I shall post an update if they are able to explain or solve the bug.
Thread: Why has Poser 2012's graph editor become a little retarded? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I agree, 'copy' and 'paste' work in different ways. It appears that in the graph window, a 'copy' will actually copy not just the current parameter; but all the params for the actor. When one pastes, it creates keyframes for all of the parameters - not just the one visible in the Graph window. And - as reported, only for one frame.
Of any help to anyone else wanting to diagnose this odd functionalty, be aware that Poser stores clipboard data in readable ASCII. So, to see what one has just copied, simply Paste into Notepad.
Thread: adding words to the lipsync dictionary? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I had no idea there was a dictionary. I assumed Poser read the text and converted it using a system like 'Soundex', thus permitting the User to input any string of characters. Sadly, I don't what dialect or accent they base the conversion to facial movements. I don't think there are any phonemes directly related to chewing.
Thread: Depth map from 3D hand pose | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The request for "the point cloud of the hand as seen from the camera or a depth map (each pixel)" would generate alot of data. XYZ co-ords for each point in the polygon. More so, if you want a more dense cloud. I am not altogether sure that storing that amount of data will be of any use, but I assume you already have a system to process the collected data afterwards.
OTOH, if you only want to be able to call up a pose, from a Library of poses; then Poser already provides that facility, of course.
OTOH, I may have entirely misunderstood what was asked.
Thread: python script Poser to After Effect | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
What properties of the Camera are you wanting to convert?
What properties of the "+origin prop" (whatever they are!) do you want to convert?
In generating the suitable JSX file for After Effects, which properties in Poser would you want mapped to settings in After Effects.
It is possible, within the restrictions of AE's notion of 3d; but I doubt anyone has a handy script close nearby.
May I ask. Why do you want to perform this export/import?
Thread: Queue Manager in the Cloud (AWS) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
When running, my QueueManager opens the following ports.
I may assume they are used by both the PoserWorkstation and the EC2, and that the VPN must permit these kinds of traffic, both ways:
tcp 11527, tcp 4418, udp 11523, udp 11423.
(Earlier posters have confirmed that Routers won't forward Broadcast UDP traffic. Otherwise, a destination of 255.255.255.255 would send the broadcast to every IP device on the planet.)
The use of QueueManager over different networks (i.e. 'over the internet', 'in the cloud') would be made easier if it provided a means to nominate the addresses of the slave renderers; thus negating any need to use UDP.
Additional comment:
Although I have only casually looked at the networking side of Poser, I note that TCP/11527 appears to be interpreted as an incoming job.
e.g: Â TELNET 127.0.0.1 11527Â (then type something), then look at the QM panel.
Thread: Red & Blue Glasses 3D and Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Strictly speaking, I beleive the glasses colours are 'Red & Cyan'. Not 'Red and Blue'.
How did you work out how far apart the 2 cameras were positioned. That is, I think, called the interoccular distance.
Although specatacular, some anaglyph creators prefer the objects not to appear in front of the screen; and to have all objects appearing behind the screen.
Some of the objects appeared not to have any depth. The trees, although positioned in the 3d space appear to look flat.
A good first attempt.
[Indidentally. I recently did a similar test to create an MPO file; which allows the 3d image to be viewed on those 3d TVs.]
Thread: Disabling the 'Animation' window. | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
Thank you both for very helpful suggestions.
The script is for my own use. And Phil's code works perfectly ok for my purposes.
The "ANIMATIONPALETTE.Show" does appear to disable the redraws on the window. But, as Phil suggests, it is not a suitable safe method for general Users. Without loads of additional error trapping etc. If the script fails; the AnimationPalette could appear visible, but remain inoperable (requring the User to close and reopen the palette).
Interestingly, when I use the "Import" menu in Poser, the Library window becomes disabled; but also looks disabled (greyed out) as well.
But I am happy now.
Thread: Another animation using 'Poser' | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thank you all very much for your comments. They were all very useful.
I agree. The lip sync was poor. I have tried several times, but have difficulties getting good results from Poser's system. There appears little documentation on how Poser uses the WAV file and Text files, other than it fiddling with the appropriate character's face/eyes and head. There appears no copy of the reference voice used when the software was written. I assume it was used an American accent; but even I know that not all Americans talk the same way. Perhaps I could get better results by artifically mis-spelling the words on the textfile; to better suit a UK (British) acent.
No, I am not Vorarephilic. And until I read the above post; I had wholly unaware of the term.
I have written some notes about the animation; and included some screenshots. It may explain a little more about my interpretation of this Scene; and may account for why the Titles were so long.

Thread: What do you use 3D modeling for? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I use it to generate little non-commerciual animations. I recently used it to demonstrate 3d 'map' information (including a demo simulation of the effects of rising sea levels in London UK).
