Never mind Cobaltdream. I should'nt have gotten into it if I dont have the time or patience to pursue it. IN THIS FIELD YOU KNOW MORE THAN ME I never challenged that. Wheather the problem is- with the database, the program, whatever - if it cant easily be extended from one to two - I want nothing to do with it. Sorry to have wasted your time trying to explain it. I appologize to everyone else for somewhat digressing - i know I just complained about other people doing it. So sorry.
Bye
Cross posts. I wasnt angry, just impatient. Lets just leave it and see what they say.

Cobaltdream:
You may well be right, and it is a mammouth job. I did not mean to imply you and/or renderosity's programmers are not knoledgable or that they are lazy. I know nothing about database programming- got me there. So if the powers that be say its not doable - so be it. However, to conclude that I know about "making computers do something" as much as I know about "making bathrooms appear" is a bit of a leap.
As it happens, I have been in scientific programming for a year or two (well realy several decades)
and in any program I worked with, from fortran to C++, it would be a reasonably easy thing to do.
Maybe database managment is not as flexible or as advanced. You have my full sympathy. If this kind of task is a major undertaking - wouldnt touch this field with a ten foot pole.

Kalon seems to be extremely close to a solution. Perhaps you should be able to assign your image to more than one gallery, and subscribe to more than one gallery. Then the critique group will be a gallery. You assign your image to Poser and the critique group and you subscribe to both.
Advantages:
-you can choose to not have some of your images critiqued without making a fuss about it.
-You still get poser traffic
-If you use poser and vue, for example, your image can "belong" to both of these galleries and get the traffic from both (I fear putting it in mixed media will get the traffic of none)
Surely this cant be such a big programming task. No need for new page layout. No need to maintain a list of group members. Just defining an additional gallery and checking assigned galleries in a loop rather than a single item.
(and while you are at it, enable more than one genre as well)

PS Ladonna, I dont remember if you added me. It wasnt personal - I just know I added at least 50 and in my list there are about 20-30.
I supoose I said "didnt bother" which sounds like I'm whining. The point is, it is a bother so couldnt it be changed?

Sorry Ladonna. You dont need to appologize for having a life or friends. GOOD FOR YOU!
My comment was directed more at moderators/admin people. As I said in the previous post
you shouldnt need to take time to add all newcomners. This is a computer based community, let the computers do the tedious work free us to do the art and/or make freinds.
And I'm not complaining about how comments I get - a handfull of good ones, and I consider myself very lucky.

Sorry to be a stick in the mud, much as I respect the content, it is actually REALY annoying when this thread digresses. I benefited a lot from the critique group so I try to stay in touch whith what is going on. It is very distruptive when I get all these e-bots yupping at me only to discover it has nothing to do with the group. ( and dont tell me to turn them off, as I said I want to stay in touch)
Couple of points about the group, if this is still acceptable:
1. It may have been discussed before, but couldnt there be a central list where your name is put on or taken off and then the computer does the rest. It was annoying to add all members by hand to the "favorites"list at this day and age, but it is also annoying to see that only about half bothered to add me. Some of them have definitely been around and quite active. The point is, they shouldnt have to - it should be automatic. Also means that when you want to "bail out" for whatever reason, you dont need to go through the public discussion Anasta went through.
2. Nudity/violence/fetiches: (related to an issue pjz99 brought up and didnt get discussed)
I have no objection to any of the above. I look at/comment on images with male/female nudity or any of the other sensitive issues, even have some in my paintings. However, when you get notified about a new posting, it has no content advisory. A recent post (probably the one that prompted pjz's comment) realy startled me. Perhaps it wasnt just the nude parts, but the associated silly school-boy face (Monty-pyton's 'wink-wink nudge-nudge say no more' style ) that annoyed me. If I had a warning, at least I would be mentally/emotionally prepared. I didnt want what jumped out of the screen .Particularly after I just hoovered.

I dont understand it either. I'v only been in the group a week and I commented on two pictures.
Is it because of comments made in this thread about pieces put up realy quickly dont deserve commenting on? I think the main objections were to the attitude of "I dont realy care about the image I've posted" which results in the viewer thinking "I dont care either, I wont comment".is that what you feel about yours?I doubt it. Based on the reality that people still commented on your posts, clearly they didnt mean you.
Some people plan their work in advance, some let it flow. My paintings quite often have a life of their own. Sometimes I just splash some colors on paper, see what the shapes suggest and continue from there. Room for all of us.
I hope you change your mind

Question - several of the people that commented on my picture asked if I can post a picture of the corresponding watercolor, (when I finally painted it, and if it's any good). My question is would it be OK to post it in the gallery - after all it is not a digital creation.
Actually I have another poser image I already painted which I can post, if its decided its OK.
Thanks a lot for viewing & commenting on my images and allowing me to view and comment on yours.

Oh please dont stop pointing out good things! I guess in my short time in the group I was very fortunate and got excellent feedback.(I dont mean they said my picture was excellent, rather the opinions expressed were excellent.) They said what it made them feel and whether I achieved my stated aim, what they liked and what didnt work. Both aspects helped. I must admit I scringe a bit when critical things are said but most were spot on and I did my best to incorporate them. But to know people looked at my picture and found specific good things to say about it,is amazingly nice!
As for qulifying remark like "just a quick picture" - whatever the reason,if to cover up insecurity or fishing for complement, I just comment on the result. I do leave a comment of "nothing to comment" about some aspects, but only if I have something to add about another aspect.
So far - thank you very much!

Thread: Faces behind our avatars!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I am fine with avatars which dont represent the "real"people. I dont realy care if you're male/female/alien/fat/young/green/polka-dots whatever. its not match.com is it?
PsychoNaut No I definitely dont have native-american origin (east-european ancestors).
Why do you ask? I do feel drawn to the spiritual/mystical side as well as some art/design aspects of their culture. Perhaps in a previous reincarnation or in a parallel universe :)

Thread: Can someone give me a tutorial on how to design clothes? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Aah... poor thing, not getting as much response as you need/deserve...
Perhaps we oldies are worried about talented youngsters overtaking us withing a couple of weeks?
Seriousely, you are asking for a lot - answering properly would require writing a book!
Speaking of which - practical poser by d. tyler is very good, perhaps check out from a library to see if its good for 13 year old? Also poser comes with fairly good tutorials, have you tried them? When you learn a bit about the basics you can use the forum for specific questions and people will be very helpful.
Hope we didnt discourage you, i'm sure you can do it!

Hi
Can I join the club please? I just posted today my first render -comments very welcome. I was hesitating if to join for two nearly contradicting reasons: I am not sure I can critique all or even most posted pictures, but I saw above that it is acceptable to comment as much as I can, so that's fine.
On the other hand, because Imay not have many renders to post, it may not fair to those I commented on,not beeing able toget back at me...
Bare with me while I add the very substantial list, I'll have to do it a bit at a time.
See you (or at least your renders) in the club
