JeffH's windblown hair is also available separately from the Props Guild. There are two variants in the Headgear section.Thread: shadow jaggies? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, that looks like shadow map size. For sharp edges, I go up to 4K (4096) - it may be possible to go higher if you have the RAM. You may have to increase the upper limit to match (double click on the shadow map dial). The other thing that happens sometimes is when a flat surface is made with only one enormous polygon - this is allowable in most renderers, but Poser is optimised for curved surfaces and can produce weird effects. Take a look at the Poser cube and square props in a 3D wireframe viewer - they use more polygons than are strictly necessary just to define a simple geometric shape.
Thread: Size of imported object | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A handy rule of thumb is that 0.01 units in a .obj file = 1 inch in Poser (this makes the Poser man 6'3" tall); or for Europeans, say 0.4 units = 1 metre. The scaling that Poser uses is generally much smaller than other 3D programs, so if you don't scale an object on import it will usually be enormous.
Thread: HELP - merging items in John Wind's 'Compose' for Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

It works the same way as Windows Explorer etc.; hold down the Ctrl key as you click, and each item will be added to the selection. You can also click on an item, hold Shift while clicking on another to select these two and everything in between. If not, do you have version 1.1? You can download direct from John - see link.Thread: Help! Lost all my fav bookmarks | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

My site is still under construction, but I do have the links page up, handily enough. For future reference, can I recommend keeping a copy of your links online? If you use Blink (http://zdnet.blink.com/) you can access them from any computer you happen to be on.Thread: sergemarck, download problem | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Serge's site is very popular, and his files are very big. Enough said? You just have to keep trying, in my experience. Have you tried both his sites (he has a European mirror, which might be free-er depending on your time zone)? http://members.fortunecity.com/poserfashion/ http://site.voila.fr/poserfashion/

You might want to start by modifying other people's work (that's the stage I'm at now) - this has the advantage of giving you results without TOO much work, and best of all you get some insight into how the masters work. This would have to be educational only, of course, since you couldn't distribute the results. There are some helpful tutorials at Ghastley Software (see link).Thread: does anyone knows a program to create morph targets? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Anim8or is good for simple things, but I also recommend Amorphium as being quite intuitive for more "organic" work. Amorphium 1.0 was a cover CD program on Computer Arts Magazine recently. The downside is that it's quite complex to get the target mesh into and out of Amorphium; there's a tutorial at Morph World. You get used to it, though.

I think RSOB has the list - however the site is currently closed in sympathy for September 11th.Thread: A thank you to Steve Shanks - Update on my remap bizsuitfem | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Try searching for "Tardis" - you're much more likely to find something (thanks to Doctor Who). 3D Cafe have at least one of these.Thread: She Sits! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Very nice, Jim: if I only *had* a wallet (and SMV) I'd willingly open it and say "help yourself". Support your local 3D artist... One of the sitting skirts I know of is in Nerd's free section (link); this is for Posette and I find it really useful. I've converted it into a morphing prop too since that is more convenient in some *sit*uations :) Hope to be able to post this soon.Thread: New suit textures for Posette now ready | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thank you! Excellent service! In return, since I have a Poser World subscription, I'll see what I can find out about the business suit and pass it on.
