...but when I came to remap the suits, neither of them worked. UVmapper gave me an "Incompatable facet structure" error for both items. My version of the business suit .obj lives in the GeometriesnewFemaleNudeHi directory, not the pw one, so perhaps I have a different version? Mine came off the PoserWorld CD1. However, Iso's microsuit does the same thing. Am I missing something, or am I just doomed to make my own textures?! :-(

Very smart - just downloaded them both - thanks LL. Coincidentally, I got your other Microsuit textures earlier this week. The PW suit was definitely in need of attention, and you've done it proud :)

Anthony Appleyard has done a program to do this: search the Utilities section of Free Stuff. Anim8or (see link) can also read .LWO, and write .OBJ as well as other useful stuff.Thread: where can i find a more useful poser4 guide in internet? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

I don't know of one. Definitely a good idea, although it would be a nightmare for whoever had to keep it up to date.

The best site for Poser 3 characters now, I think, is Greylight. The majority of Poser 4 props and clothing will work in 3 as well; just avoid stuff which is based on the P4 standard clothes. Sometimes you have to download it to find out, unfortunately; folk tend to assume you have version 4 nowadays. Some stuff will crash Poser 3, so make sure you have back ups, and the 3.01 patch is essential.Thread: Posable ready conforming clothed figures ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

There's quite a few Poser 3 characters at Greylight, although not what you're looking for today... but still worth knowing about. Actually, long dresses and robes are very difficult to make fully poseable. For clothes only, try looking for sergemarck's stuff in the freestuff area. They will work in Poser 3.Thread: Seeking P3 Casual Male in Polo Shirt and Jeans | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Follow the link to Greylight, where you'll find Greg Crowfoot's Lawboy and many others in the Poser 3 Characters section. Props and poses can also be found here.Thread: Would someone consider a trade? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

3D Poser (see link) is a site specialising in sci-fi and fantasy stuff - they have some TOS uniform that you could use, but no complete characters. Surely somebody somewhere must have modelled Kirk by now?!Thread: Adding Props to Scenes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you're using a Poser ready prop, the trick is to parent it to the body part as soon as you've added it to the scene. Then zero all the rotation and translation dials for the prop, and if you're lucky it will be in the right place; it depends on who made it, and how. This usually only works for props which are associated only with one body part, e.g. hats on the head, shoes on feet etc. The point is, once a prop is parented, the dials work relative to the body part to which it is connected making positioning much easier. Before parenting, the dials work relative to the universe (as Poser calls it) which is hard work. :)

I suspect John Wind uses Truespace, and Compose was originally designed to allow body parts to be transferred easily between TS and Poser. I don't know enough about Truespace to say how many of Compose's features are due to the way TS works, and how many are handy things that just got added on. The link for Compose goes straight to the zip file: John's home page doesn't even mention it, as far as I can see! If you're reading this, John... The link I've attached is a tutorial for using Compose on the Mac, but because it's Java based it applies equally well to Windows. Just ignore the Mac specific bits.Thread: Help-Why do we use the Compose Utility? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Compose is handy for all sorts of things, and I probably don't use all its facilities. I don't know of any tutorial for it, as far as I know you just have to figure it out. Basically it can import .obj, .cob (Truespace), and various Poser files (.pp2, .cr2, .hr2 and .pz3) and export .obj and .cob as well as a vertex map. Once in there, you can split up the groups and save them separately, rescale them, and lots of other things I haven't got into yet. I use it for extracting geometries before I generate morphs using Anim8or, which can't handle multi-group objects. The real answer to your question: if you need it, you'll know...
