Thread: Newbie Help - P5 quality help | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
In P5 you can set display mode to the one on the very end (don't remember what its called) - this gives some texturing. And select full tracking mode - the selectors on the right edge of the viewing window. That will keep the figure visible while moving parts rather than the box view. These settings cause a performance hit, its ok on a fast processor. You may need to back them off most of the time. Daz studio uses an opengl render that puts some of the load on the video card. Note: don't use the P5 procedural shaders if you want to use the item in Daz studio or Bryce.
Thread: Unparenting prop at specific time in animation... | Forum: Poser Technical
You need to play with a simple animation first. Create a new scene and load a cube primitive and a cone primitive from props. Position them however you like, cone above cube but not touching is good. Parent the cone to the cube. Now record keyframe for frame 1. Move to frame 30, move the cube (cone moves as well since it is parented to the cube) record the keyframe. press previous keyframe button and play animation. (cube and cone move together) Now goto frame 31 - change parenting of cone prop to universe. record keyframe. goto frame 60 move cube (cone does not move) move cone position it somewhere away from cube. record keyframe now return to frame 1 ** do not move anything ** play animation you should get cube and cone moving together until frame 30 and then they move seperatly until frame 60 (the end) when learning animations play with the keyframe editor, note what is recorded at each keyframe, have a look at the result of the different interpolation types.
Thread: Question about brushes | Forum: Photoshop
I have not got a clue to Photoshop brush types. The conversion program just puts up an error saying (paraphrase: cant convert type x file, only type 1) There are Photoshop brush sets in the Freebie section and the marketplace.
Thread: Question about brushes | Forum: Photoshop
There is a utility named abr2gbr.exe which will convert photoshop brushes BUT it does not work for anything but the type1 brushes. that said, Can anyone answer the question :- will Photoshop Elements 2 or 3 use custom brushes made for Photoshop 6,7,or CS
Thread: Unparenting prop at specific time in animation... | Forum: Poser Technical
You can change the parenting of a prop BUT you need to be very careful.the parenting of the object is a global (same in all frames) so IF you need to change anything in a section already done you need to remember to reparent the prop while making the changes. If at frame 1 you parent a prop to a figure and record your keyframes to (for example frame 90) the motions of the prop will be recorded in the keyframes to that point. If you then change the parenting of the object and record keyframes from frame 91 to end of animation all of the object movements are stored with the new parenting in effect. The other method of using two objects is preferred if you need to be adjusting the two sections of the animation. An alternative to scaling the object to make it invisible would be to animate the texture.
Thread: Humble suggestion to forum mods/coordinators... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just a suggestion but how about the search function. If you do a search of forums by the username don't you get a rough idea of participation.

Thread: saving just a leg | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
When you save a figure you should get a 'select subset' button on the save dialog - click it and select the parts you want saved.
note: I do not think that poser will cap any body parts. That is you will have a hole at the top of the leg.

Thread: Anthropomorphic Otters -- Where? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Great , thanks for the link. I had been trying to find and address for Lemurtek for some time. Khan seemed ideal for some scenes from the 'Ringworld' series. nice picture but I would like it better as a bit more otter and a bit less anthro. And doesn't an otter have a flatter paddle like tail - or am I thinking beaver. regards

Thread: Sorta OT People selling others' art | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi, He might have an argument IF the artists posted images on a web site that specifically authorised downloading of images for personal use. I believe most sites state artists copyright is retained which should mean you may VIEW the image but not use it otherwise. The copyright statement on his website (posted in the Copyright forum) suggests he realizes what he is doing is wrong, but suggests a viable excuse. From posting in the Copyright forum he has made some recent changes - probably in an effort to stop a pile of lawsuits. regards
Thread: Record All Keys Per Frame (smart key system) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The keyframe system should be recording ALL positions of every figure / prop/ etc in the scene The big problem with something like climbing stairs is that the interpolation between keyframes does not consider object collisions. You need to add enough keyframes to force the interpolation to go the right way. The good thing is you only need to do one part of the cycle, you can then copy to the other leg, and then copy entire frame sequences to build up the entire action. I would actually consider building and saving an animated pose for climbing one stair. Then just keep applying it as required. regards

Haven't read "Demon Breed " but would be handy for scenes fro the Spellsinger series. does anyone know if the KHAN figure by Lemurtek is available anywhere ? Thanks
Thread: Is there an easier way to add tattoos to a figure's texture? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi, forgive lack of detail but I don't have photoshop. here is the general approach. 1. draw the tattoo on a white background and save. 2. open the body texture map in photoshop. 3. add a layer for the tattoo - simplifies any corrections. 4. import the tattoo image to the blank layer - scale and rotate as required to place it on the arm - the original white background should be transparent. save all layers as a new image - use it for the body texture. It may take a few trys to get perfect.
