The reason the Necronomicon (well, one of them, anyway) has a fine version of Sumerian myths is that the writer(s) had 19th and 20th century classicists and historians to get the story from. The Necronomicon is a freaking myth. No such book ever existed in real life. None of the books using that title now can be dated from before Lovecraft mentioned the title and "the Mad Arab" in his fiction, and he stated in in his personal letters that he made it up.

I notice something strange here. As far as I've seen, many of the model-makers who have their stuff for sale haven't refused to answer questions about how they made it when it's been asked. So why is someone complaining about stuff not being available for free refusing to give up not a mesh, not a texture, not a morph, but simple information?

Minor comment--Mara Jade didn't have a lightsaber when she was the Emperor's Hand, IIRC. She only received one later from Luke Skywalker.

It'd be easier to support people if they didn't engage in actions which are, at best, foolhardy and more accurately termed incredibly moronic. Besides, how are we supposed to support them? Well, we won't be able to download their models and give proper credit. We won't be able to tell people "Don't use this schmuck, go here and get it for free." We won't be able to do a damn thing. So don't ask people to support an action that doesn't serve anyone's needs.

Although they really don't do it, I believe the word you're looking for, PJF, is "lemmings". Actually "self-righteous lemmings". It's a rare suspecies. While they're driving themselves over a cliff they keep telling everyone around them what a great idea it is.
Thread: The Propsguild Site will close, to keep contributor members work safe. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is getting damn silly. Answer this question: what, exactly, will closing the site (and I see 3DCC has jumped on this absurd bandwagon) accomplish? The thief in question obviously doesn't give a damn what you guys think, so how does this action hurt him? Oh, I understand that if he'd stolen something of mine I'd be upset. I'd really want to smack him good. So it seems to me that pulling all my stuff offline that he might have taken, while possibly emotionally satisfying, is counterproductive. Why? Because, if I was giving the stuff away for free and he was selling it, by pulling my set off the only set that's available is the stuff he's selling. So if people want something I've made, the only place they're going to find it is through him. Where they pay for it. And he makes money. And I get nothing. Of course, if I leave my stuff available, well then people can get it from me for free. And he gets nothing because, realistically, why pay when you can get it for free, legally? I get proper credit and the satisfaction of seeing him make less money than he otherwise would have. And then I'd see about getting organized and trying to do something about it, probably in cooperation with Zygote and whoever else I suspected might be interested in learning about this little scam. It would be the same thing if I wrote a book that someone copied and stuck their name on. Protecting the copyright does not mean that I have to go around and yank my book of shelves. It means that I inform the proper authorities and do what I legally can to stop the illegal copying. And meanwhile I'm screaming as loud as I can about what this guy did and, hey folks, why pay $50 bucks for that rip-off when you can get the real deal from me for a lot cheaper? Of course that's just me. And if I had a model up at the Props Guild I'd be saying the same damn thing.

I thrust that everyone realizes that the logic behind this action is somewhat ridiculous? It doesn't do anything to the guy who's been stealing the work (except that he can't steal some more from that one site). The only thing it does do is put pressure on innocent users to do something to the guy. I'd call that blackmail. And not directed at the bad guy. And say that he is shut down. What then? Does the site get taken down everytime someone misuses something one of the members puts there? What's being done is equivalent to a software maker completely pulling a popular program off the shelves because some moron somewhere pirated the program. Instead of going after the guy doing it, they're punishing everyone but the guilty party. Pardon the honesty, but I find that incredibly stupid.

This is indeed a problem. I recently created a military tunic type of top for both male and female but I can't get it properly into Poser to even begin setting up joint parameters and whatnot.
Thread: Latest issue of MAXIM magazine features Poser in one of its articles | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've seen it used in Maxim (and some other mags like that) over the last few months. One of them used Poser Dork and a baby along with line drawing to show how to change a diaper. The latest issue of Scientific American has an article on quantum teleportation. The full-page image inside was obviously a combination of Bryce and Poser (you can recognize the distinctive Bryce textures and the figures are clearly Poser.

If you don't mind a minor quibble, the edge of the athmosphere is too well defined. It looks like your planet is literally in a bubble.
Thread: Bison - Moose | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just for the interest of anyone using Debra's animals, if you want a realistic scene you have to watch the scale of the animals, especially if you have a human in the scene. I used to live in moose country and I now live in caribou/muskox country, so I know of what I speak. Moose-big, the shoulder of a big male will often reach a man's shoulders. Caribou-small, the shoulder of a big male will be, at most, the height of the bottom of a man's chest. Muskox-about the same height at the hump behind the head as the caribou. Numerically, a moose will be 5+ feet high, the caribou and muskox around 4 feet (all at the shoulders).

The Canadian and US versions of The Discovery Channel will be airing the series (all 6 parts of it, and probably the "making of" special) in April. Discovery was one of the major financial contibutors to the series, so I doubt that writing anyone else will do any good, as they are likely to have exclusive North American broadcast rights, nor will it get on any sooner than scheduled.

Try loading a few of those fat .cr2's into your workspace at the same time and then see how you feel about it. It's not the space they take up on the harddrive, it's the space they eat in memory.
