One way I've found for positioning the lights quickly is to assign a "Point at" behavior, name the object your pointing at, move the light to where you want it coming from, then after it swings around, turn off the behavior and fine tune from there. Quick and dirty, but effective. Good luck!

Don't smack yourself in the head about it... the other day my mother was asking my help abut a software product, and I asked if she had read the manual? She hadn't, and she WRITES tech manuals! Your not alone! ;>

Great idea! I also think that the winner should have a direct link from our forum to their winning image, instead of the convoluted way of getting to it now. Any others agree?

I like the extra texturing of this last one, but I would minimze the laser holes a bit like FWTempest said. Or are they bolts? If bolts, they're a little large. Maybe some grease stains around where the pipes attach?

How many models are we talking about here? 20? 50? 100? Hundreds? Dare I say... thousands?

I believe that the free hosting sites don't allow you to download from links from other sites. Something to do with following the download request to another site. If they did allow it, then their ads, (the only reason they allow free web space to begin with!) wouldn't be seen and they would be out of business. By all means, give it a try, but I think you'll find frustrated people when they try to do the download.

I agree about that the timing of audio to visuals is tough. I usually did music, (band demos, songwriting demos, even a meditation tape once, that king of thing,) so the timing I always found easier before I started adding visuals to it! Now I find it easier adding the visuals to the audio. I think I speak for everyone, when I say we'd love to see the "Directors cut" if you finished it. Any chance?
Thread: Strange quirks of Carrara under Mac OS 9 | Forum: Carrara
I would guess that since you obviosly didn't "update" 1.1 to 2, but instead you did a "fresh" install, that for some reason your system isn't recognizing the second install. I agree, weird. On the other point, could you instead of trying to re-name the application, instead re-name an alias of it? With alias' you can re-name them to your hearts content without the error you are reporting. I've also observed this with some other programs. Just like some don't like being moved from their installed folder, while others don't give 2 hoots. S. Jobs in action I guess! ;>

Nice animations! I agree that sound brings SOOO much to the table as far as making it more real. Actually, I started doing production from the sound end of things, and now prefer the visual end! Go figure! ;>

Is the logo rotating as a whole? Or, different parts spinning in place? If the first, follow litst's advice, if the latter, don't group them, but apply the SPIN behavior to each part. I have done this a few times, and found that it slows down my computer when redrawing the scene when I move the timeline. The thing is that C has to re-calculate the whole timeline up to the point you move to, just so you can adjust something. Also, I would suggest you don't move things half way through the time line if a SPIN is active. The program does some funny things trying to both use the behavior and the explicit motion. Experiment with a couple of simple shapes before using behaviors on anything you've spent a lot of time creating. It will save you a lot of hassles. Also, SAVE OFTEN TO NEW FILES! Use a simple revision numbering scheme. If something doesn't seem to respond correctly, you may find it difficult getting back to your original model. Just my 2 cents worth! ;> Good luck!

Nice model. Done completely in C? But the proportions of her head aren't quite there yet. Her head by it self is good, but a little too big for her body. Just my 2 cents! ;>

I also prefer TIFs for the same reason as you. Also, since I work crossplatform, I find them more reliable for opening/editing in many programs. Add in support for many layers/channels, and it's a better format all around.
