position your "rope" where you want the ends in your modeler.
export and bring into Poser.
goto the Cloth Room.
make a cloth group of the "rope" and remove the ends from the group and leave ungrouped.

drape for 20 frames or so.

export dangling rope loop as OBJ. you can also make it collide against things.... etc....

Yes it is a Bug, it is known as the Terminator Problem and it's something that it present in many unbiased rendering engines. I linked to a PDF on the subject earlier in the thread when it came up.

yup. on the faces with squares, you need, in Sketchup, to select that face and hit Delete. and keep doing it until the face Disappears then press Crtl-Z. it's very easy to stack faces. that causes the squares aka CoPlanar faces. it is easy to correct tho, it's just sloppy modeling.
