Also- when resizing & saving for web- don't forget to adjust the "quality slider" when saving the jpeg to keep the file size less than 15K.

Just wondering.... was looking at who is up for AOM. When was the last time one from the Photo gallery was in there? All I see is 3D rendering types.

Wow- reply number 8 & the first "somewhat serious" reply to actually answer a concern (par for the course)......
Just a suggestion.....
I post in a couple other online galleries and prior to uploading the image on them, there is a screen where the user has to check assuming responsibility that (s)he is uploading an original image they hold a copyright to. 'Rosity doesn't do this. As a matter of fact- we must go through 2 other screens (if we feel like it) to view the copyright policy. In those other galleries- when one clicks on that screen to submit, they are assuming all responsibility (as it is worded on that page) for owning the copyright of that image. This can also be done with nudity (& anything beyond that) when someone checks that box, there needs to be an additional box that assures that the models used were "of age." Just something to consider.

That's my point, some of us comment on the actual artwork. However- it seems that the vast majority would rather just give the "friendly pat on the back" and not even say why the image is good, mediocre, or whatever. I'm not saying that everyone will like the basics of the photo itself, but being artists- we should be able to see what is good (or not) on the image and comment on it & back it up (or what would we do to improve it). If there is nothing that can be commented about, nothing needs to be said.
Notice I don't comment on everything I look at or every image that one of my "faves" posts. However, I enjoy appreciating & viewing most of the artwork- you don't see me negatively commenting on pieces I don't like, but I will say what needs improved on such an image. Artists seeing something they like or dislike should be able to be constructive about it. Take a look at other online galleries/communities- see how it's done.
BTW- I don't need the grain of salt because I was never ever offended by any comments of my works on here. (So far) they have all either been positive or constructive.

I think the key term there is "critic"- as in one who critiques the artwork- right??? };-)

Hmmmmm..... I'll find other less expensive ways to get my work out there. They're working better than paying that much of a submission fee for a needle in a haystack shot. Besides- It might be kinds obvious WHO would probably have better chances at getting their work posted. As for the free copy of the book, it would be cheaper to BUY the book than to post 3 photos anyways.

Is this the cats from one MONTH or one WEEK? Shows a little excess doesn't it? It's great that people love their cats (I have 3 myself) but when snapshots are getting on to the gallery & getting votes & excellent ratings because of a cute cat (instead of rating the photo itself)- that's not art.
