Hi John, I use mostly 1 Degree DEM's and they work fine in Vue 4. What I do is first decompress the DEM's in 3DEM, then merge them as a giant DEM and then import them in Vue. I am working on a Grand Canyon scenery out of 25 DEM's and it works fine. Check out this listing of 7.5 Minute DEM's here: http://www.timster.net/maps/states.htm Cheers!
Thread: Anyone go to the movies? | Forum: Vue
I should see it next Wednesday :) FF was made with Maya and took 4 years and close to 1200 PC's and over 200 artists. Quite a huge CG project, in fact, it's the biggest one ever made. I think I will start with a much smaller scale...say 5 PC's and 5 artists! ;+) Cheers!

The LW export is not a bug at all, it's just a bummer issue :) As for Ozone I really don't need it as we can composite Vue scenes in LW even from still images. The ideal situation would be Vue scenes in LW and use HyperVoxels to add realism to the scenes if they are animated. Glad to see there is a list of bugs forwarded to e-on. :) Cheers!

Heard of it but never checked it out. I know some LW plugins can create foliage and I know how to make animated grass and fields but it would have been nice to export vegetation from Vue to LW. I think that WCS and AWB allows such export. Cheers!

Yeah but Z-Buffers and Alphas wont give me true 3D trees. :( This is good for distant forests or terrains but not for close shots. Cheers!
Thread: Quite weird...overcharged 100$ for Vue and no answers! :( | Forum: Vue
When I processed the order on your site it said 154$ this is why. I didn't get my VISA statement yet. In any ways, there should be a better transaction system where the price you see is the one you are charged. :) If I was charged 70$ on the credit card then it's all fine but there should be a way to have this output once you complete the online transaction...it's less headaches for both parties. Cheers!
Thread: Vue 4 Bug List | Forum: Vue
Oh I noticed this "thingy" the first day I got Vue 3 and it is still present in Vue 4. What annoys me most is the fact that Vue 4 still dissapears like Vue 3 did for no reason once a while...good thing I save often because it's quite frustrating to see your application go away while you are really tweaking something hehe. It's funny to see these bugs still present in Vue 4 and I made sure I deleted Vue 3 instead of upgrading the version so this is a brand new install without any traces of Vue 3. :( Let's hope they finally get fixed sometime soon...and it's a bummer we can't export the vegetation to LW. Cheers!

the low/high and world/object things are quite annoying...I know how to resolve them but they shouldn't work that way. :) Cheers!
Thread: Vue 4 Bug List | Forum: Vue
Hi bloodsong, There is also a case where the textures will revert to world orientation instead of object orientation when you edit mixed materials. It happens mostly when you copy/paste a material. :( Cheers!

Hi Lynn, I sent the infos again, hope to get some news soon because it's been more than 2 weeks. :) Cheers!

Yeah exactly...it's sad though. If you want to keep your customers happy you make sure they are all well treated; it's not like I asked for a silly tech. support question. :) Cheers!
Thread: Has anyone figured out volumetric clouds yet? | Forum: Vue
What they mean by volumetrics is that the light and fog/haze interacts more with the clouds than before. Also, you can clearly see the interaction with the rest of the scene. No landscape software that I know of has true volumetrics or voxels...I know Digital Natural Tools does but it's a plugin for LightWave, Maya and others and costs over 600$. I don't think they could add this feature in Vue and keep this price level since they require a LOT of power and tweaking. For example a simple scene with voxel storm clouds in LightWave requires over 6 hours to render when you activate all shading effects so imagine with the interaction of Vue's scenes! :) I do agree that using the term "volumetric" in many softwares is a bit confusing. Cheers!

Hey that's a really nice image! You should change the water's color a bit though to make it more realistic! ;+) Are those trees from Vue 4? hehe Cheers!
