I think she means in the black places she can see the edges too (I can). Make sure that the black in your pic is indeed black and not a very dark grey. If it is not 100% black you will see the edges. Increase the contrast of the photo in a 2D package to make sure to darken the dark places some more.

Wheee! Been experimenting with it and never thought about making it partially smaller and then cropping part of it too. Yes... it shows it perfectly. I'm learning every day.... thanks Jen :)

Thanks everyone about the advice... I will work more on it and make some bubbles. I also will try to get one hand off with the other in the shark's mouth. About the thumbnailing... LOL... I KNOW how to make a thumbnail. I just wonder how to get the message of the picture in a thumbnail with such a small number of colors like in this one.

Well.. It's of course your interpretation. Mine was that the keep was much more vertically oriented and more as a whole with the mountains. Somehow I imagined it to have a very "organic" look. But I think that would be hard to make.
The scene on itself is cool though

Looks cool Catlin and I agree with you with increasing the size of the leaves. Bonsais tend to have big leaves compared to the tree. It's about the only thing they can't get small :)

It's a potential winner, I think. Only thing that I have troubles seeing is the shadows. The shadow of the ship seems to fall to the left "towards" the sun. Same is true for the tower of the church. The side that is lightest is turned away from the sun. So either you used another lightsource or (and that's what it looks like) you postwoked the sun in the scene?

And if not for a tree then with the right texture you could always make it a candle with flame ;)

This is what I got when looking for "curved text" & photoshop on Google... Seems like it's a good explanation? http://www.laikanet.com/howto/text.html

I looked at entries that thought of a good scene first and then thought about how to combine materials in it (so not think out a material and then come up with something like: "wow... this random material looks like I could use in such a scene"). The next three are for me the best contenders in that: 3 points - Zhann 2 points - Muddygrub 1 point - Doublecrash

Little tip for you Jaymonjay: In stalactites is the word "tits" and they're at the top of course ;)
