Oh, sorry..... :) I was jokin around.... of course I've seen the disappointment comments b4.... just thought if someone had to get some animals, there is another way... I don't need new animals, I need shadow maps to work... and now they do.... just thought I'd stir the pot the other way! No real biggie. I'm in that sort of mood today... didn't mean to spend your money for you.:)

You get some cool Daz animals if you get the Vue and Mover 4 package.... a bear, a camel, and a charger horse.... Thanks Katherine for the fix! I tried it on my "dirty" install and it worked just fine.

I downloaded it and concur with Tyger purr that my test file now renders properly (map shadows working), with 325 in the version.
Thread: Poser debate on spaceship scales | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hey where are those python scripts for flying the ships with the banking and stuff? I've not seen them, are they on a diff. website? If so could you plop an url? (If we are allowed too, I guess...) I apologise if they are here and I have not seen them.... If these things already exist for Poser then I think you are right that Poser is a fine app for these space dramas! :) I am still think that VUE is the way to render animations tho. With the nice crossgrade price for it and mover, it's basically a must have for a Poser user. This of course means that making them for Poser is def the route to go.

Hey Numanoid that idea is great!!! Maybe if I get the itch for making ships again, I could contribute stuff. Are you going to just allow artists to develop their own ideas or are there going to be design guidelines? I think that Gareee is right to a point. Poser has no path oriented animation with animation assistants for ship animation like VUE does. Since VUE automatically imports poser stuff tho, maybe the hideous render times can be trounced that way. I like the idea of the ships and props being poser ready, so that we can animate in Poser when we need to and VUE when we need to. Maybe you could find somebody to do some Python scripting to add path animation to Poser so landing scenes and stuff can be done in Poser. Also I have been wishing for BVH files made to go along with the ships so that some stuff will already be animated, like getting into the ship, or out of it, or operating controls. A ready made space sphere would be cool too. With flat cirles with neat planets on them. Just some ideas....
Thread: Poser polymage update | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase
Hi Neftis! Don't let the peeps drag u down! I loved the original peeks and any figure that has the potential to blow Vicky out of the water I'm all for seeing (and buying, hee hee). I'm off to Polymage to see what's been happening! Personaly I see Carolly's point (all follow the rules but if the mods are going to move the posts anyway what gives?) With SR4 (a disaster that's put me clean out of posing for about three weeks) out I'm ready for some positive news! Your figure is going to be the most exciting creation yet! I'll be patiently waiting...
Thread: FireFly Renderer vs. P4 Renderer (overall quality) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Firefly o.k. ... really the most realistic renders come from nice lighting and especially texture/surface work. I've gotten fed up tho with Firefly, altough quite passable, does not have radiosity solutions, cautics, etc. I have worked long hours in a feeble attempt to prove that Firefly stacks up as a renderer, but always feel that well, that Shade program would literally blow that same picture away. I would like to know more about how e-frontier plans to allow poser import to Shade. I hope they don't leave them so seperate that we'll have to go thru hell to get a poser scene in there. If I knew what I knew now, I would look for Shade, because, even tho the Firefly can do much better than the p4 renderer, it still shows a glaring lack of quality because of very important missing algorithms. So p4 makes passable pictures in much less time. Stick with that unless you have zounds of time to get a pic that's somewhat better but prob not worth the extra effort.

I totally agree with what you are saying. Cockpits and interiors are good to be seperate, for rendering animations seperately. I wonder tho, having found the labor involved for a simple ship is way over what the market will bear. I realize that plenty of people might sit down to do a Battlestar just out of sheer fandom, but they can't sell the darn thing when they are done. It would be wiser for recouping the losses to make one's own massive colony ship or whatever. I tried the ship market and found that there was no way to ever make one's investment back, (being that ships are not butt naked sex pots) and you really have to be in it for fun. That being said, I agree that a scale standard is a good idea. Maybe, one step further, would be a group of people working on an original ship for the Marketplace. This way the ship could be really, really cool, I do know that lots of people want really nice sci-fi props, without one person winding up looking like Gandalf the Grey when they are done!;) It is very nice of you Numanoid to do so much work for the community by the way. Keep up the good work!
Thread: Poser Prejudice | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
One thing to say.... Change the name of the program for **** sake! It is very unfortunate that the name of the program purports an unfortunate meaning, being a "poser" in the 3d art community. Probably too late for CL to do that. The history is there and it will always be. People could have made a huge market making products for MAYA or 3DSTUDIOMAX, but they cost too much. If they could have a cool name like "Vortex", or even "BlackHat, the advanced character plug-in for Shade 7", maybe the stigma would subside. As it is, Poser is practically a plugin for MAYA, 3DSTUDIO, CINEMA4D, and VUE Professional. I know people use it for those apps. I would be willing to bet that making a working figure for Poser is a lot harder than making one for these higher end apps. Take a look at Bloodsong's book to see what I'm talking about.

Thanks Katherine! Jeff01's "workaround" is working for me now, but the fix would be the best!
