New build fixing the Poser import problem, but antialiasing is messed up now. We need an Octane bridge, because Vue's renderer is just simply ... ahm ... "cattle feces". ;) I am seriousley contemplaining a refund.
I wouldn't call the Vue renderer that at all, not at all. It's a pretty good renderer, but yes it can be troublesome. An Octane brigde for Vue? Would that even work. I don't see Octane render all the stuff Vue can throw at it, not at current. It just wouldn't work..... unless you create a network of GPU's with lot's of memory for the GPU's. Vue is not only CPU intensive when rendering, but also eats memory, we all know that. Using octane with Vue would be limited.
I've seen Vue stuff rendered with Octane, some have done it, I think there even were posts about in the forum. It left, me let's say, underwhelmed and unimpressed.
As you concluded, you most likely shouldn't have bought Vue 2015 at this stage. I always wait first for the reports to come in about the new Vue. You know what? There's a huge lack of reports and images of the Vue 2015, making me think it's not that good as E-On claims it to be. I had no intention of buying it and so far that intention has not changed. Normally we even see this dead forum flooded with posts about the new version, but since that isn't happening at all, it's safe to assume Vue 2015 is one to skip..... I'll wait and see if others can change my mind in time to come when they release their experiences with Vue 2015. So far, it hasn't been that positive.

The Artist versions have yet to be released and if you have a maintenance plan you should get it. Normally the Artist versions are released within 30 days of the Pro versions, but it seems they have some issues with it and don't know when it will be released.

You may want to ask this at the E-On forums to get a definite answer. As far as I understand, the Artist version is a cut down version for use with Vue only. You cannot create plants from scratch either, you always need a base plant that you alter. Before buying this, I really would make sure what you can and can't do it, before ending up with something you can't use at all. To me the Artist version of TPF is like Vue Pioneer..... a glorified demo of no real use.

Yes, I did read see that as well. Don't want to get excited yet, first want to see it in action before getting all exitced about it. Sure sounds like an interesting addition, but so did the whole photo realistic addition in Vue 2014. At first I was really excited about it, until I started using it. Then the shadow issues came and the horrible long rendering times and I was left with an addition that I never use and will only be really improved in Vue 2015. So on paper the new rendering sounds great, but I need to see it working before I can start jumping up and down for joy :)

Thread: Importing Poser Pro Game Dev scenes into Vue | Forum: Vue
That means that most likely only Vue 2015 will support Poser Game Dev in the future, they usually do that. When the new version is in sight, they stop working on major updated for the current versions. You're left with 2 versions, try to go with your Poser Pro Dev scenes through Poser Pro 2014 or buy the next version of Vue when it's released.
This is a re-occuring problem with Vue, when a new version of Poser comes out, Vue takes ages to support it. It's one of the reason I haven't bought the latest Poser versions and stick to what works well. This way I do avoid running into problems with my work.

Thread: Is Vue community erroding ? | Forum: Vue
What did you expect with a topic like this? Happy clappy feedback? The topic asks for a reason and in this case it's not a positive answer. You could have known this would get some negative feedback, because it's a negative situation. I agree, there are a lof of negative threads on the Rendo forums, but it's not crap at all. There's a reason behind the negativity and Rendo itself is a huge part of reason, if not the main reason, due to the way it handles certain situations.
Let's also not forget that a lot of you Vue old timers (including the OP) are the cause of all the negativity in this forum section. I've been around long enough to remember how you guys simply blew up this forum and lot's ran away after that and the community started to erode. Then Rendo by their policy only started to add to the erosion and the picture is complete. Not a pretty story, but what did you expect? No one of you old guys is adding anything positive to this forum section at all, Most of you just come in, create threads like these, post negative comments like you do and then run off again. While there are plenty of threads you all could have addidt some helpful and positive feedback, but you choose not to do so.
That way you keep the negativity once started alive and you are not part of the solution, Instead of sharing a wealth of knowledge and information, all you guys do is complain. Leaving us with the eroded forum you've once left behind. Help us build it up again, instead of eroding it even more.

Nope, it's not eroding at all.... it's dead :) Esther, I did see the thread when you posted it and if I had known the answer to it, I would have replied. My Vue knowledge is still limited when it comes to complex question beyond the basics. There was another thread started after yours and that one oddly was answered very quickly, by someone who hardly ever answers in this forum. I guess it was because it had nothing to do with Vue, although the person answering is quite good with Vue.
What gets me the most in this thread is that Robert starts it and then never comes back again, no participation. He clearly shows why this forum is dead..... those with knowledge of Vue never participate and share their knowledge. Makes me wonder what happened though.... one moment he's all over the C3D store with his products, very active in their forums, posting images here again and next moment he's gone as suddenly as he re-appeared.

Wishing you many blessing in your new direction, Steve! Sounds like a cool new challenge. Thanks for all the years you gave us :)
As for hobby market being small..... think again? Microsoft, Apple and the likes all depend on it :) Companies like Serif have become quite big because of all these hobby users. Not forgetting DAZ, Poser and even Vue. Though the last one has outgrown it's hobby user a bit.

Thread: making money making content? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Let me add a few things....... First of all, forget about making a living from Poser content :) Yes you can, but only a few do and you need to put a lof of work into creating items. If you want to live from Poser/DS content you need to be able to create a lot of quality products om a short time. you need to build a catalog and add very frequently to it. You may be lucky enough to make a living then. But prepare to give up a lot for it.
Second.... most vendors that make a living, don't only do Poser/DS stuff. They also focus on other markets or do custom work, or sell art work and so on. Even some of the big names we know don't make enough from their content. The Poser/DS market is relatively small and it is oversaturated with vendors, so it's a constant strive to get to the top and stay at the top. Also take in account the whole myth and hype surrounding being a vendor. It's not the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. It's not money easily made. I know vendors who pretend to make a living, while in fact they have a (part-time) job next to creating content or at least another source of income as well.
Thirdly, pick you store well. Rendo favourites top vendors a lot and tends to support new and small vendors really badly. To protect their top vendors, they determine prices for the content you sell, which gives a beginning vendor a huge disadvantage. The tend to allow top vendors to set their prices lower then others, again a huge disadvantage for top sellers. Same goes for promotion. RDNA is a lot better for beginning vendors, they are really helpful, but I did find them quite controlling in many things. DAZ is a whole different story of course. Selling at Hivewire3D is quite pleasant, but they are still small. My contacts with yurdigital have been pleasant as well. I've been at CP for many years now, the easiest store to work with, they demand little, but also help little. They sure give a great return, they only keep 30%. Find a store that suits you.
Also keep in mind the economy. The content market is infuenced by it very much. Vendors are struggling. Then there's the whole odd seasonal sales problem. Some months sell very well, while other are very quite. October - January (and if we're lucky up to March) sell well, then it's quite and often just before the summer it picks up again, only to see a drop in sales during the summer again. Then there's the weather. That may sound odd, but it is of influence. Nice weather for a long period of time..... less people buying content.
Then there is the matter of content itself. If you do clothes, you need to constantly follow the market. What figures are in? What figures are out? Which figures are constant? Props and scenes are less influenced by figures. I've done clothes and props and scenes. My props and scenes sell better and I find clothes a bit tidious to create. I stopped doing it, it was no fun for me. But others love it. Create what you like to create. Then there's the matter of technology when it comes to figures. Poser 7/8 use a certain figure technology, while Poser 9 is different and Poser 10 is different again. Some figures like V4/M4 work in all, but other figures depend on newer versions. That counts for clothes as well. The process for universal figures is different then it is for version specific figures. DS is of course a whole different matter altogether. Props and scenes depend less upon version, most of it works just as well in older versions as it does in newer versions.
In wrapping up..... to give you the best advice I can :) Create something you like. Pick a marketplace you like. See if they want to sell it and help you out getting it ready for the poser market. Start selling it and see here it all ends up. You maybe surprised. My first item was an instant best seller. It has been created over 5 years ago and it's still selling a few copies every month. I haven't created new poser content for over a year now. Still the store with the catalog I've build up over the years is generating sales. Granted, not as much as in the time when I added new content regularly, but still it's selling nicely. In a bad/slow month I sell 30 items or so, most months around 50 items and in the holiday season I sell well over that. Without adding new content to my store. If I add something new, the sales figures double easily. So, create what you like, that's the best start!
Good luck :)

xStream 9, that is old. No wonder you have problems trying to integrate.
Quote: Do you plan to buy Vue 13 or TPF 2 ?
No. Too expensive, both of them. I'm not even buying TPF1, way too expensive and the license is just plain ridiculous. TPF plants are still way too slow and memory consuming in Vue. Due to the license TPF is very limited in it's use and highly overpriced. The software itself is really cool, until you read the license. If you want to sell a plant you have to do it through C3D? What were they thinking when they wrote that? I know you've made a few TDF plants and were involved in helping in the development, but it seems like you have stopped releasing plants already. You're gone very quite, what happened? Did you only stop by to start this thread and then dissapear again :)
Quote: The most active place is the Vue Galleries group on Facebook
I'm part of that now and to be honest, it's less active then the galleries here, always the same people showing off their images and a lot of what is posted there, is posted here or at C3D as well. Conversation wise, it's just as dead as this place. For me the FB groups didn't add anything at all, there just as dead as all the other places.
Hmm.... the quote command doesn't seem to work anymore, so I edited this post.
