I used a Bryce animation to demonstrate some concept design work during my third year at Uni. I remember it taking a very long time. The department still use the animation on open days, so it must've impressed someone!
Thread: "Great POV!" | Forum: Bryce
Altering the field of view or pitch/roll of the 'camera' can help enhance the look of an image no end. Also an image of an aircraft landing (for example) is much more interesting when taken from beneath the aircraft than it would be when taken from, say, the edge of the airfield, so the 'camera' location is an important part of the composition. In these cases I agree with SunsetHunter and think it is a fair compliment to give.

Geocontrol is amazing - but my demo has expired  and I don't have a spare 40 knocking around at the moment. The website claims you can just re-install the demo, but this seems to be lies. Well worth the money they ask though.

Thread: Saving Bryce scenes corrupts file... | Forum: Bryce
Any time I've tried to save a scene with a figure in Bryce crashes. I think its the DAZ figures that do it. My work around was to save the imported figure as an object preset, then save the scene minus figure. Very annoying, but the only way I could get anything done.

Set everything up then double click the render button for more sizes than you can shake a stick at.

How about the view as box option in wireframe mode? that might speed it up a touch. Looks promising!

My thought - Perhaps the model is optimised for Poser and requires transparency maps for the sails? In poser I would imagine that would make it very easy to show or hide them. Further to D@M - You could get a copy of Wings3D, export the sail meshes from Bryce and use Wings to create separate material zones.
Thread: Hello, need help with cloud animations | Forum: Bryce
I had to create a loopable animation to show a 360 view of an aircraft model for a Uni project. The animation I created was 4 seconds long, and I turned the model round 359.5 degrees. When played continuously it looked as though the model was just slowly turning. Maybe try this with the bryce clouds switched off, using a volumetric cloud material and a large torus (such that you can only see a section of it)? I'd imagine it'd look a bit Scooby Doo though.
Thread: DTE question | Forum: Bryce
I'm rarely brave enough to venture into the DTE, but I don't think you need to be there. Can't you solve it using the transformation bead on the channels on the right? Stick to object space, but rotate it 180 degrees on x or z.

Thanks again guys! Hrm - That link doesn't work. Sorry about that. Flak: I've no idea! I won the rocket design competition at Uni 2 years back - so I can vouch for all the equations I've used. I'll have to wait until the 'consultation' to see what their motives are. D@M: MathCAD all the way! Said rocket (that was also the inspiration for 'Apogee') was designed in MathCAD. Its my favourite engineering tool. I've also used it to design a glider, a flying taxi, a next-gen badminton shuttle and a mars rover. All of which worked!

Great image. I think contrast creates drama, rather than darkness. The lower one is fantastic. IMO If there was much more to the sky you risk distracting the eyes of the viewer from what is actually going on. Perhaps make the blue... er, stuff... sparklier to really draw the viewer in?
