while luc has blink morphs (his eyes are in fact partially closed in the sitting pose above) i had not thought of him as a talking creature and therefore hadn't considered mimic compatibility. it's a possibility, but not currently on the top of my list. his master lilith however is 100% mimic compatible. and since his eyes are solid black orbs, i hadn't made them poseable. they'd look the same in any position.

Thread: poser4 export to bryce | Forum: Poser Technical
if you use poser's obj exporter bryce can read both the geometry (.obj) and material (.mtl) files that get exported, as long as they're both in the same directory. and make sure you weld the figure, so you don't get seams in the model.
Thread: Creating conforming Clothing question... | Forum: Poser Technical
you should never build your clothing around an exported figure. you really want to base your clothing on the actual geometry files residing in the runtime folder (or wherever they actually lie on your drive). often the cr2, even when saved in a "zeroed" state, may yet retain some hidden settings, like that of the xyz offsets, that don't get zeroed, and will displace the model. to test this theory, open janelle's actual geometry file in lightwave and see how well the jackets fits. my guess is that there will be discrepancies.

thanx guys, and yes xena, it was a lot of work. this was one of those "quickie" projects that wasn't ...
Thread: Hide Dawk's Gen From PZ2 ? | Forum: Poser Technical
hmm ... this mention of "heros" "nipples" & "bellybuttons" sounds awful familiar ... i think you might be referring to my tutorial "poser custom modelmakers' guide", where i explain how to remove that stuff from a sample figure i named "myhero".
unfortunately it won't be of any help since it shows how to remove that stuff directly from the model's geometry using a 3rd-party modeller, not hide them from within poser. and the tutorial covers v3 and later, not 2. (tho i can't say it wouldn't work for v2).
the tutorial can be found at aarrgghh.com/poser.

... sometimes poser leaves behind a temp file named "pzSav_yourfilename.pz3" when it quits. you might want to look for that (though if you haven't found it before now, you may be out of luck). ... and sometimes norton utilities unerase can retrieve previously saved versions of files.
Thread: poser pro pack can't open poser files in lightwave/inspire! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
i've actually been bringing poser objs into lightwave for about a year now but when i heard that the pro pack's lightwave plugin was designed to streamline the process i chomped at the bit. i did some rooting around newtek's ftp site and found a plugin called filenavigator.p. it's supposed to support mac system os 8.5 and later. unfortunately that's all the information available on it. there's nothing about its actual purpose or method of installation. i've email newtek's tech support about it, but in the meantime, anybody know anything about this plugin? is it what i'm looking for?

alvon123, if by "file name dialog box" you mean a text entry field for the actual file name, no dice. there is none. i'm just presented with a list of files to choose from. i'm only allowed to navigate among my disk drives and choose what lightwave sees.

serge's technique is a valid one; i'm using the same strategy to model vampi & friends. i create the model using the least amount of vertices that will yield the desired result with a final smoothing subdivide. for me it's not a question of computing power (i've got plenty) but one of management; juggling fewer vertices is just easier on one's eyes, brain and sanity. that said, let's see the subdivided mesh!

i believe the "skulls, blood ..." image above is actually an elaboration of an image from a black & white photo essay collaboration between surrealist painter salvador dali and photographer phillipe halsman. i'm not sure but i think they teamed up in the 50s. in any case i clipped a copy from an issue of photography today or some photomag like it back in the 70s. i dug the clipping up about 2 years ago (tho i've since lost track of it -- i know it's around here somewhere!) and reproduced it in poser. that image can be found on my website at the following link if the image fails to appear with this response. incidentally, it was produced on a mac 8500/233 with 256mb ram & 8mb vram.
