Nice, I like this one quite a bit. I especially like it because anyone could have taken it. There is usually a wicker basket in everyone's house. One of the things that bothers me about photography competitions is that it seems that people that have access to beautiful views of unique items have an advantage. It could be argued that we all have access to beautiful views but a scerene mountain lake at sunrise is a winner shot most of the time. I think I should probably shut up now ... I love your basket.

Nice job Donald. I agree with your preference for the natural but you have turned her into a beauty queen. I think SHE would love it. Do you have any pointers to a tutorial on how you did it? She is a pretty girl with great eyes, lips and a perfect nose and seemed to be comfortable in front of a camera. Looks like a model to me. But, was the gumbo any good? Did you leave her a good tip?

MzQt - I second your humble opinion and vote for night. I have several night shots and love to take them at anytime of year.

I love this shot. Don't clean it at all. It portrays the chaos of a swampy creek with excellent color, shape and texture.

OK, so I didn't read the last line, so don't use my stuff, I don't care, there are plenty of other people breaking their necks to use my stuff, there are too. You'll see, I'll become rich and famous and you'll wish you'd use my stuff then. You'll see ...

Thread: a question for the masses | Forum: Photography
Impossible question to answer. Requires more of a qualifier. I have shots that I like because they portray a particular element of something, for example: human natures such as love, giving, tenderness, anger, etc.. Then there are those shots I like for the technical aspects, such as: light, contrast, color, reflection, motion, etc... Then we get into nature, such as: landscapes, water, clouds, sky, trees, grass, etc... I guess you can see what I mean. I like your idea though, I just think you would need to qualify the shot with one of the above categories. Sounds kind of like the same idea as the monthly challenge to me.
Thread: Photographing humans: an issue | Forum: Photography
I think the point here is the issue of the invasion of privacy and yes it is a honest question. If you peep into the window of someone's house, you are invading privacy but once a person steps outside of their "private" domain, they enter into the "public" domain and should expect that are being observed by someone. Even then, it is a matter of social civility to not "stare", "point at", or otherwise make people uncomfortable with your attentions, even when they are in a public place. So, you really have to use your better judgment and remember the golden rule, would you like it if they had a camera pointed at you? There is some good discussion on this topic a few posts back. Thread: May Challenge Entry | Forum: Photography
Well crap, there goes the may challenge. I bow humbly to the reward of your effort. This has been added to my folder of ideas to paint. Way beyond my talent but still a source of inspiration. Thanks for the history also. I can imagine a whole book built on this subject.

The top one is cool, the bottom one is real cool. The dof is super. They look like little sat dishes aimed at the horizon.
