I can imagine. It's strange, the power of words...I can almost feel the oppressiveness of the summer here lift reading your Haiku.

I'll be heading home soon for the weekend. I may not be able to access the net over the next two days. If so, I hope the thread will continue; reading some of these beautiful Haiku helps me handle the heat. :) And connect with people. :)

Great Haiku everyone! Sorry it took a while for me to get back; time zones are funny-when I'm asleep, others are awake.

I intentionally didn't mention about the last word/letter being the next one's starter because i wanted to leave more freedom, but if you want to use the last word/letter to start your next one- go ahead. Only the theme is constant - 'Summer'

I like the idea, Jon. For me, reading something is not just an intellectual exercise, but a view into somebody's heart and mind, and often life. I, for one, would like to know who wrote what, because that connects me to the person, and not just the writing, and I'd like people to know that what they're reading was written by me, as well. And since the competition is now out, having the names on makes a lot of sense. hanevi.

Good to have you back. I like the new challenge set up, and I do hope that it will catalyse the improvement of all our writing as time passes. Personally looking forward to the poetry one. :) Regards.

My cousin and his wife, just about escaped, but others haven't been so fortunate, and I keep feeling this terrible groan from the earth that defies words and colours.
