You can try to make "hair polygons" and then, after made them editable, export the resulting mesh. But I'm also warning you, hair alone can be as heavy as Vicky3 with bodymorphs.......

Thread: THE GREAT Poser 5 CPU Test!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
AMD 1700+, its clock speed (no OC) is 1467 Mhz, 1 gig RAM, 278 sec with Opera and other tasks active.
When I have time I'll rerun it without other tasks active, no Zone Alarm, no internet connections and so on, and I'll repost my times (and I think we all have to do this).
Now some thoughts.
As far as I can see, the main speedup is the RAM, not the CPU (if you don't compare an AMD 1400 to a P4 3.06, obviusly...); from 2.0 Mhz up, rendertime with 1 or 2 gig RAM is consistent with minimal variations compared to the variations of the CPU speed.
Additionally, RDRAM isn't a greater speedup in respect to traditional DDR RAM, even if only one tester stated he had RDRAM (and he got one of the worst times in the 1.4 Mhz class...).
This means: if you can buy a P4 or a AMD 2.4 or 2.6 that costs 100 $, buy it against a P4 3.06 that costs 300+ $ (even 500 $ here, around 480 euro), you aren't going to lose so much speed in comparation to the much less money spent...same goes for RAM, don't buy the much more expensive RDRAM and chipset which support it, it's only a marketing issue :-)
And for the professionals who use highend 3D apps? Well, it's another story: 3DSMax and Lightwave, only to talk about these two, take great advantage from the fastest FSB of the new P4s, and if you can afford a dual CPU system go for it, according to what I've read these apps run almost 1.5-1.8 times faster than traditional single CPU systems...
Poser uses only 1 CPU though, so don't run to the next store if you are going to render a simple NVIATWAS :-DDD
The MACs, sorry to say that, are great for other jobs, but NEVER GOT A MAC FOR 3D RENDERING!!!
I have evidences that the biggest and powerful MAC is outraged by a simple 1.8 Mhz Intel CPU, you can see some threads at http://www.cgtalk.com (search for "Cinebench"): I'm speaking of triple or quadruple (and even greater) scores for a average Intel based CPU against a powerful MAC...check for yourself.
Apple is launching the next G5 generation of CPU, and the testers are stating it can outrun even the 3.06 P4; but the price tag is going to outrun the one of the highend P4 systems, too...
Please don't take this as a war flame Intel/MAC, I'm only reporting what I've read about.
Ciao, Luca

Sorry to say that, but BM model gives me an CRC error when I try to extract the cr2. Did you use some sort of archiver other than Winzip?

Well, for V2 you can save a FC2 and it's all for the face morphs; if there are some body morphs, you can save a pose with morph channels in it (Poser ask you if you want to save morph parameters with the pose, then in this case you have to say YES). Good job, anyway :-)

Yes, I tryed myself and it's very slow, definitely there's a problem on the site. Wait some time and try again, or tell Traveler about.

EveV4 is on more than one zip: one for the pcf, another for the cr2 and so on. Go back to Morphman site and search for them.Thread: My deepest, deepest sympathy | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"An airplane on the Twin Towers", it was unbelievable when I was at work, 3 P.M. today. Quick connect on the Internet, and the first reports... Incredible, incredible, absolutely incredible... And then the images on TV... Prayers and no other words from Italy

What S.O. are you using? What version of DirectX have you installed? Do you know some graphic cards have an option to use 24 or 32 bits for million colors? Definitely is a graphic card issue, even if Poser doesn't use the card itself in no way (it uses system resource). I'm running Win2k with Poser 4.0.3, an ATI Rage IIc with 8 meg of RAM and latest drivers, DirectX 8 for Win2k (there are two versions, one for 2k and the other for 95/98/Me), and I NEVER had a problem in rendering. Try change the graphic card with another one (I suggest the Matrox G series, not a great one for 3D games but cheap and very useful and powerful for programs like Poser which doesn't use graphic hardware for 3D); if it doesn't work, you can try moving your card to another computer and test it. Another issue: is your system memory bad? As Poser uses system resource, even the system memory can be the bad thing...

Petunia: Nance is right, my program never cancel or overwrite the original maps but copy the new map with the old name of the texture associated with the single body part. Nance: at first you need to select every material and made it white, and then assign the generic texture (I think I'll provide a MAT pose for that), so you will change materials only on one character; the interesting part is to save the final work...I haven't thought about until now, I'm a "load, setup and render" man... :-))) I don't want to write python scripts, because I want to let 4.0.3's users to use this utility; just wondering how I can save works like this (text files managing is the key, but you have to close the scene in Poser...). Stay tuned.
Thread: clothes for the Thabita Model | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think you are referring to Thabita model by Michael2, a beatiful piece of work. You can try to use magnets on the chest and hip area of the clothes hiding model's body parts, although you want close-fitting effects; in this case, if you're enough skilled with magnets you can do the job (with very very much work), but if not you can try to paint clothes on in a 2d program such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. The no-fitting-wear is the greatest problem on custom models, but I've seen some stunning works from many artists here.
