Yes, I'm kind of amazed this is clasified as a Pro only feature too. I mean, blurry reflections have been in VUE forever. As well as blurry transparencies, btw - beautifully implemented as well, if I may add. I think eovia should really have included this in the standard C4.

I have no problem rendering a starfield accross a network with Vue Pro. Did you get the latest update? From what I heard, Mover 5 has indeed a problem with Vue 5 rendercows. Eon has announced that this problem will be fixed in 5.02 due this week.

I wish I could do "simple animations" like belino! I say, I'd really like to see your animations, bonnyclump!

Come on, Megalodon, you can't be serious! This guy bonnyclump has been flooding this Vue forum with negative posts for a while now. From what I read, these are just loose statements. The guy doesn't even own Vue 5! I'm actually surprised that he hasn't been banned yet. Don't talk about censorship when his posts are still readable by anyone. And don't base your judgement on what a guy like that says. I didn't get Vue 5 yet, because I'm wiating for the Vue Pro 5 release - lie you. But from what I heard, Vue 5 is a very nice piece of software, and very solid. Pete

Hmm, after reading GWeb's posts about Carrara being faster than VUe, I decided to give another go to Carrara. I did a quickie test and actually found out that VUe renders almost 40% faster than Carrara 3. I wonder if they've improved rendering spoeed in the latest release?

Must we always have these fights? I have both products and love them both. I totally respect that somebody likes an interface more than another. I happen to be happy with both - but I don't like bashing: Dan, I recommend you check the latest version of Vue. The new material thingy blows Wenger and Muszgrave together out of the sky! I got my Vue on a hybrid CD, so I don't know where you got that info that you need to pay twice to have Mac and PC? And yes, Vue works fine on my comp - and so does Bryce.
Thread: Buy Vue 5 or wait for pro? | Forum: Vue
I've tried Carrara and been very disapointed myself. Aside from the weird interface (I seem to always be in the wrong room ;-) I found the application to be rather "shallow". I much prefer a more focused application like VUe that does less stuff on the paper, but gives you top notch results in the end! I haven't ordered Vue 5 yet (waiting on Pro), but I'm really impressed by what I see of 5 so far. My 2 cents.

I can totally relate to that feeling, BigGreenFurryThing. I rarely come here anymore and hardly ever post because of that (yes, I know it's stupid, but these people get to me and I just can't be bothered). :-(

Thread: Vue4 Pro, How good is it?, is it fixed? | Forum: Vue
I'd say "stick with d'Esprit" if you only do still frames. Vue Pro works great, but most of the improvements are geared towards animators. Pro is a great step forward and I'm presonnaly very happy with it, but I do dabble in animation. Even for still frames, there is a lot of cool stuf (like auto-reimport, rendering options or python, as rodluc pointed out - check out his radiosity script for a blow). Once you get used to them, it's hard to go back. But if you don't plan on using any of these features, it's probably not worth the 400 bucks. Did you check out the demo? Pete

I seem to recall a recent thread bout this. Apparently, it's got something to do with making boolean ops with objects that don't really have a volume.
