I have 1 gig and I don't think I have ever had a memory problem with Poser 6. Now problems doing reflections and refractions are another story. But they say they are going to fix that too.
Thread: trans Maps ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Start with a template as your base layer. Then add a second layer and use your fill tool to make it completely white. Then make it transparent. Then create a third layer and paint in black the parts you want to be transparent using your template as a guide. Then when you are ready to save, make the second white layer opaque again and save. This will hide all of your template underneath. Now when you use your transparandy map, all the black parts will be transparent and all the white parts will show.
Thread: Slightly O.T. How to achieve B&W televsion look for Poser animation | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Most old black and white TV's used a phospher that has a slight bluish tint to it. Unlike film, which truely was black and white. So if you want to simulate a black and white TV as opposed to a black and white film, make sure your TV image has a slightly blue tint if you want it to look realistic.

I didn't really do anything all that special. There are lots
of cloth room tutorials out there, it's just that they work
a lot better in Poser 6 because Poser 6 is a lot more stable
and faster than the cloth room in Poser 5. Basically just
find a piece of clothing you want to try, put it on the
chartacter, set up the simulation like it tells you to in
the Poser 6 manual starting on page 253, run the simulation
and if you don't like how it looks or are still getting poke
throughs, go back and twiddle with the x, y, and z scales
of the dress and then run the simulation again.
You could do this in Poser 5 too, but it takes a long time
and after about 7 or 8 trys Poser 5 would crash and you would
have to start all over again.
Thread: Curious Labs - Please Note! ... Multiple UNDO for Poser ... sign up here. ... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes I would like multiple undos. Preferably all the way back to the first action performed, but at least up to 10 undos back if more aren't possible.

Thread: Out of memory error in P6 with 1280 megs of RAM... (Windows XP) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Oddly enough, I have 1 gig of RAM and let Windows XP handle the virtual memory, don't try to force it into a fixed amount, and I have yet to have any "Out of Memory" problems with Poser 6. Maybe the people having the problems are trying too hard in messing around with their system.
Thread: Poser 6 hangs no decimal points, | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Wow, that is an odd problem. What units are you using in your setup? Try changing that around. Start with Poser Natural Units and see if that does anything. Or if it is already set to that, try some other units of measurement and see if that does anything.
Thread: A (stupid?) thread about Poser and the 3D modellers ... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I guess my question is why do you care what other people think? Do you like what you make, are you giving it your best effort to make something you are proud of? If so, be proud of what you made. If not, try harder ther next time. Or are you just doing this to stroke your ego and see how many compliments you can fish out? If so you are always going to be disappointed because no matter how good soemthing is, someone isn't going to like it.

Thread: Help interpreting a template to texture | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Actually if you overlay template with the colored picture in Photoshop, the template on one layer and the texture on another layer, you can see that they do line up. The black splotches at the bottom lay in the same position as the spokes and the leaves pattern does have a curve in it which matches the curve of the fan. To make your own pattern just follow the example of the texture pattern in the sample. In your paint program put the template on one layer, put another white layer on top of it, and then make it transparent, and on the third layer put your picture. Then before you save your picture, make the middle layer opaque again. This will hid any of the template from peeking through.

Thread: Hot 20....NO complaint, possible solution | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The problem I see with that is then the forum is filled with links to the gallery. The forum really should be a place where we talk about Poser itself - how to do things like making morphs and adding textures, bugs, latest releases and patches. If people really want to know what is in the galleries then just go to the galleries and look around.
