Not true, miss nancy... there is a difference between the diffuse colour channel, which most textyure maps are plugged into, and the 2d image map node, which is what stores the actual map info. Diffuse colour and blender nodes, such as the one suggested by stefan, are animatable. The image source channel of an image map, however, is not - once you load an image into it, you're stuck with it throughout the animation. what stewer suggested was that, if you use a blender node, and plug in two image maps (one into each colour channel), then by animating and changing those colour values, you should be able to blend from one image map to the other in the diffuse colour channel - which is something different entirely from trying to change the texture map used in a single node. Hope this make sense - if/when I have the time, I'll try and take some screenshots to make it simpler to see wht I'm talking about. jonthecelt

not sure if that work, erynoka... after all, it's not the lights which are animating, it's the camera... but I could be wrong. jonthecelt

The way I've done it before, for a werewolf transformation, is to use two characters, going through the same animations, transposed on top of one another. Set the texture maps on each one separately - sadly, a texture map can't be animated. Then, animate the transparency settings on each one so there's a blend from one model's visibility to the other. But now that stewer mentiones using te blender, I might go back and give it a try using that... :) jonthecelt
Thread: Any Grass Loincloths About | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just an idea, but if you want complete control over the grass... perhaps create/find a simple belt, and create dynamic hair from the front of it? You can alter the thickness so it's more like grass, texture it appropriately, and it will move according to your character's animation. Might not be appropriate, but it was the first thought that popped into my head. jonthecelt

Look further down the list, towards the bottom, there's a 'Poser Python Scripting' forum. Incidentally, if you parent the camera and lights to a ball in the centre of the scene, then rotate the ball, then the darkening problem isn't an issue (set the ball to invisible before doing the renders, of course!). :) jonthecelt

You're probably better off rotating the camer 18 degrees, rather than the figure, unless there's a specific reason why you don't want to do that. As to the whole python thing, I cant' help there, but perhaps the mighty ockham or someone from the poserpython forum might be able to? Have you posted this request there, as well? jonthecelt
Thread: Error in shoes :{ | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Part of the problem is to do with the way our real feet work. When you put on a pair of shoes, your feet scrunch up according to the shape of the footwear, with toes getting closer together and possibly even overlapping each other slightly. Poser models don't tend to have that level of detail in their modelling/morphs, so invisibility is the best you can get. jonthecelt
Thread: Miki or Apollo | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Umm... I don't think Apollo has been $99 for some time now, mizrael... Anton brought his price down to somewhere in the $65 range, if memory serves correctly. Also, the Apollo given free with Practical Poser is a 'lite' version, not the complete thing. Some morphs have been lifted out of it, I believe, and you don't get the bodysuit or scalpbeard sets, either. So, you could spend $76 on Miki and a trial version of Apollo, and get a (by all accounts) pretty good book into the bargain, or spend $10 less and get just Apollo. For me, even though I have and love Apollo, if I wasn't sure, I'd go for the book and Miki deal. That way, you can try out Apollo for a month, AND play with a full version Miki... then, if you like what Apollo can do, you can buy him next month! :) jonthecelt

Thread: Let me counter that offer | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
radstorm, there's no need to get upset over this.. the fact, is, you claimed you wanted exclusive rights on this one... your actual wording stated exclusive... and for someone as well-versed in legal terms as yourself, then you should realise that means you own the sole rights to that model. There is a difference between exclusive, and available for commercial purposes - which, so far as I know, any merchant worth his salt would automatically grant you upon purchase, anyway. I think it's only reasonable that would-be modelers here examine the nature of the contract they might be getting into before agreeing to do any work... don't you? jonthecelt

If it's your EXCLUSIVE copyright - ie: no one else can use the same model at any time, ever - then you'e going to hae to pay a lot more than just $50 for the model. If you're just talking about having the right to do whatever you please with the model once you've bought it from the modeler, then, yes $50 would be reasonable - although perhaps still on the low side, depending on the level of work desired (and since you're asking for textures, moving parts, and quite possibly some complicated morph work involved in the ropework, I'm thinking that the level of work on this would be high). The only way a modeler would let you have such a model for that kind of price is if they knew they could also sell it on to other would-be purchasers, thus recouping their losses. To put it in another perspective. I'm a Brit. The national minimum wage over here is just over 5 - VERY roughly akin to about $10 an hour. In order for your price range to be a reasonable offer to me (if I were a modeler - which I'm not, by the way), I would have to have the modeling, rigging, morphing, and texturing done within 5 hours. And if you're looking for a 'realistic' model, then I can put pretty good money down that 5 hours might just get you the front left wheel modeled and textured to your liking. Sorry, but you either got to up your budget by a LOT, or accept that others will have access to the same model as you after it has been made. And by the sounds of things, you might also have to accept that you're not going to get it overnight. jonthecelt

Thread: ...Geep is too modest ;) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Actually, just being picky... there's 2000 ages on the CD. Geep mentions the 'other' 1978 pages in additino to the 22 sample pages shown on the website. Sorry, couldn't help it! :) jonthecelt
