I like the second one the best. The first one, due to the blurring, looks like there's some atmospheric conditions going on. Which is cool if you're going for a bleary, wintery look. Even if you are, I'd say go for the 2nd render and handle atmosphere in your post work or by using "camera gells" where you can control it to your specifications.

Select part of the dress, go under the 'Figures' menu and select 'Conform to'. Then when the dialog box pops up, select your Cheryll character. Then, when you are posing or applying preset poses, always make sure you have your character selected and not a peice of clothing. Hope this helps.

I just downloaded it fine from the Free Stuff section this weekend (on Sunday I think it was). It worked fine. Maybe the webhost is having some temporary server problems. Make sure you remember to download and install the JRE as well.

Make sure you've checked out the advanced techniques manual for it's section on making characters. It's under the Poser Resources page at MC's site or it's also printed at the end of the Poser4 manual. -JKeller
Thread: Conforming Clothing To Figure | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The shirt object needs to have a .cr2 that's similar to the character's .cr2. It needs to have the same body part names for the parts that the shirt encompasses and near to if not the same Joint Parameters. The best way to turn an existing .obj file into a clothing figure is to first cut the shirt up into body parts that are divided close to the how the base figure is divided. Then import your object and makes sure it lines up corectly with your figure in a "zero" pose (all dials are "0.000", except scales which are "100%"). If you have to rescale or reposition the shirt any, make sure that you export it again after you do this. If your shirt has the same configuration as another shirt already in the library, this next part is simple: make a copy of that .cr2 and change all (there should be two) of the file path references to where your new object is saved. If the are no existing clothing figures that match, you're going to need to make a copy of your base figure's cr2 and delete all the sections that refere to body parts that the shirt doesn't have. Then open up the cr2 in poser and it should work like any other conforming clothing figure.

Actually, when Poser exports to Bryce, each Poser usemtl area becomes in own group for the purposes of applying materials in Bryce.

I like the flash effect. Good job especially considering Poser doesn't necessarily have great effects support.
Thread: Trenchcoat? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Somone made a poseable trenchcoat for the woman, but not for the man as far as I know. My suggestion would be to take the Poser4 overcoat, modify it in RDS or another .obj friendly modeller, make sure you keep the part names the same and then point a copy of the overcoat's .cr2 at it. If this is a road you want to travel, I can give you more specific instructions. -JKeller

Grey's walk designer tip doesn't work for this (as far as I know). Make sure the body parts have the correct behind-the-scenes name (i.e rShldr) as well as the correct Poser interface names (i.e. Right Shoulder). Hope this helps. -JK

For those of you who don't know, Jeff won last year's Pose This contest. I've seen a bit of the "EviLAngeL" comic...and after seeing how much Jeff has improved in his Poser knowledge and technique in the past year, I'm itching to see more of the new panels he's working on now. -JKeller

Okay, it's a little more clear to me what you are trying to do at this point. As far as what Poser is currently capable of, I don't think this is exactly possible (though I have been proved wrong before). Creating a poseable clothing figure out of the flamethrower is going to be the closest you're going to be able to get (by my estimation). A poseable clothing figure would not give you all the problems you are expecting. >> - That still leaves no way to keep his right hand on the >> nozzle also. True, this is a drawback using this method. But if you were to only have a nozzle (no tubing or tanks) you would only be able to parent it to the right or the left hand. >> - It would leave parts of the flamethrower withconfusing >> wrong names. Confusing maybe, but as a conformed figure you wouldn't need to pose the flamethrower, just the figure weilding it. >> - To get the curving realistic the hose must be divided >> into more than three segments: I use eight. >> - It would likely make the hose closely follow his left >> arm as if it was a sleeve, but in reality it would hang >> in a loop by his left waist: see >> http://www.buckrogers.demon.co.uk/3d/spmanfl6.jpg Thinking about it, it's may not be necessary to lable the hose to parts to go along with the arm...just the nozzle and tanks have to be labled the same as the body parts they need to be attached too. >> - It would not conform the nozzle accurately enough to >> his hands to point in the intended direction and make its >> handgrips go accurately through his finger grasp. If you can get the original .obj file to import to line up in a relative position with the figure's default pose you fiz this. Tedious, I know. I know it's not easy, but this is probably the only way to go about it in Poser4. I hope this helps. -JKeller

nevermind, looks like you already reposted and I just missed it earlier. Looks like you saw my response too.
