yeah, I thought about going up to him and asking if I could do something like you suggest but, I'm shy....(waiting for laughing to die down)....had an uncomfortable situation concerning asking somebody's permission, so I now shoot and run..... But yes I agree with with your input and thanks! That's why I'm on here, to get input from everybody and hopefully improve on my hobby... Thanks again! Jack

I'm still partial to Military Intelligence.... I'm still having trouble with the sky washing out on a hazy day. Maybe I should buy a book on how to punch all the buttons and thingies on a digital...any suggestions? Jack

absolutely great pic! the tone is neat and the subject is excellent.. My Two Cents Worth... To me, this is why we take pictures as an "art form". This picture is natural, you probably was looking at her without thinking "I've got to get such and such kinda shot". You just felt it was the moment to take it... and Viola! You have a picture that touches everybody that sees it. To me, that is Art in it's purest form. ok back to our regularly scheduled whatever... Jack

Great! That sounds like a lot of fun and a worthy mission to be a part of. Unfortunately in the US, at least my part of it, we tend to knock down neat old buildings to put on parking lots and such. That's kinda what got me started on shooting some of the stuff I shoot. I know in 10 years or so, they'll be gone! So if I want to see them later, I need to photograph them now! Downtown Nashville used to have so many wonderful old buildings, now I bet 60% of the reallt neat ones that I saw in my childhood are gone. I envy the fact that our neighbors across the pond still have buildings that have been standing for decades and some for centuries.... Jack

Slynky, thanks for the reply! I guess the bottom line would be the enjoyment of photography. As for what direction the picture takes after being captured either on film or digital is a by-product as it were of the photographer's imagination. That is part of the reason that I joined in this group. To see and enjoy other folks pictures and to see where the imagination takes it. To me there is beauty in a simple picture of a flower or the flights of fantasy in a manipulated image. Hopefully, i will be inspired to try new techniques emplyed by the people in this group. Jack OBTW, the effect in the picture of the church was acheived by using a mild cutout filter, and following that up with the poster edge filter just a little to define the shapes a bit....
