The Daily Mail is almost everything I despise in journalism... tabloid, conservative (not quite hard right, but certainly far right of centre) middle class whiners who are convinced that all young people today wear hooded tops and caps, and threaten old women for their pension. Having said that, they do have a good sudoku puzzle in there every day... jonthecelt

Problem with Mojoworld would be trying to find a good space to place your props and scene: because it's a fractal world generator, it van be difficult to get a more urban/manufactured look on it. Trying to find that ideal site for a city or airfield might prove tricky. I got a copy of worldBuilder on my latest issue of 3D World a few weeks back... not had a chance to play with it properly yet, but it might be the way to go... no creation of complete planets, but a good way to get a larger-scale vista with more control over height variation, perhaps... jonthecelt

Oh, no, bush is absolutely right about that. I mean, look at us... we've had civil ceremonies for less than a month now, and already the whole country is turning into an anarchic mess. It's the end of civilisation as we know it... hang on, no, that's just the Daily Mail's version of events. ;) jonthecelt

Just wave a candy in front of ol' Georgie's face, and tell him you know where the WMDs are hidden... he'll do anything you ask... ;) jonthecelt

For some reason, it looks like a different transparency map is being used on the wing textures - from the 'hand' shape on the wings, I'd suggest that somewhow, it's been swapped to the dragon body transmap, or somehting similar... check the mat settings, and then try to re-render... jonthecelt
Thread: Applying Materials without losing existing Nodes? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
OTher possible methods... from memory, I believe JohnRickardJr on RuntimeDNA was working out how to create what he called 'mini-mats', that is, a small material that could be plopped down within an existing one. He used Poser to try and work on this, I believe. John's website is http://www.castleposer.co.uk, though I don't know his emai laddress off the top of my head (I'm at work at present, so don't have all available resources to hand...) Alternatively, taking this one step further, is posework's excellent ShaderSpider, which allows you to not only create materials eaisly which can be spread over an entire figure/prop/whatever, but also can create 'wedge shaders', which allows you to insert nodes in between existing ones - and connect them up for you, as well! Of course, Poseworks solution does involve spending money... but it's such a resource (as are all his latest products, actually), that you'll find yourself wondering how you managed without it. jonthecelt

Ah, but it's nbot just graphics that maketh the game, anxcon... the fact is, those King's Quest games were great (and still are!) because of their gameplay, scripting and just general fun. Sometimes it seems today's game companies focus too much on creating a visually immersive world, and then forget to put anything worthwhile in that world to do. This isn't saying all modern games are soulless, because that's blatantly untrue... but there do seem to be fewer 'original' titles out now than there were, say, fifteen years ago, when a good graphic was one where you could just about make out the body shape of your character! jonthecelt

Well, you beat me to it, mikachan: I was about to suggest both Wardrobe Wizard for the conversion idea, AND Clothing Creator if you wanted an original mesh. To my mind, CC would be the better option here, since what you want is fairly simple in terms of the shape and design, and the latest version of CC can design its own templates for any character (meaning that every single figure in your runtime is now supported, instead of those which have a pre-generated template designed for it). But if you need to convert clothes on a more regular basis, as well as this instance, then maybe WW is the better option. Ach, forget college: what will you learn there? Cancel that last tuition cheque and buy PhilC's back catalogue!! You know it makes sense!!! jonthecelt

Just for myself, lmckenzie, I find it easier to just laod in a set/prop, character, whatever, and know they're all designed around the same scale(ish: given there's no real definition of scale in Poser!), than to bring something in that's "normal" scale, and have to reduce the size of all my other models to compensate. jonthecelt

All too often, censors have come in to straitjacket what should be allowed in animation and comics. both with the Hays Code in the 30s, and with the Comics code some twenty years later, the cartoon was heavily hit. And why? Because some people found it impossible to understand that, simplt because it's a 'toon, does'nt mean it has to be for children. Now, finally, the industry seems to be able to show itself as a market for all manner of artistic expression - from fluff fare for pre-schoolers right the way through to adult anime. I'm not suggesting that everyone should read or watch every style, or that they're al to my tastes... but I'm glad that there's the opportunity for expresison out theren ow as there has never been in the past. jonthecelt
Thread: Help! How can I delete unwanted files, completely? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ok, I'll take a look through all the menus and help files, and see what I can do. Don't get me wrong, it looks good, and it's understandable... but it's not 'quite' right, if you know what I mean? Anyways, I'll get on it, and try to have something concrete to offer back over the weekend. jonthecelt

Seems to be working great for me so far, semidieu... It's helped me to reorganise my runtimes compeltely (something I've been wanting to do since P5!). There are a couple of places where perhaps the translation can be tightened up. If you want me to give it a crack, then I'd be happy to oblige. jonthecelt
Thread: Displacement Node in Poser 6 MAT Room - How???? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Actually, that quote you got there is a little misleading. The checkbox they talk about is not in the materials settings, advanced or otherwise - it's actually in the 'render settings' dialog box. On the right of the box is a checkbox marked 'use displacement maps', and at the bottom of the left hand side is an input for how high you want the 'minimum displcement value' to be. In general, so long as you set this value to be higher than the highest number you've given the materials in the material room, then your displacement maps should come out fine. Hope this helps, jonthecelt
Thread: Looking for a Rugby-Ball | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Would it not e possible to use an american football, and apply transparency to the stitching areas? It's been some time since I last saw a football, so I can't remmeber just how different the shapes are... but if the stitching were a separate group, with the ball actually running underneath (which seems to me the easier way of modeling int, rather than actualy creating the stitching bumps in relief from the ball), then there's no reason you couldn't just make them 'disappear' from the render, then apply a rugby-esque texture map on the skin of the ball itself. Just a thought, jonthecelt
