Thread: Making a laboratory scene... | Forum: Bryce
oh shoot... I just re-read haloedrain's post, and I'm pretty sure that's the same thing I was thinking about... It was so long ago and I've slept since then.
Thread: Making a laboratory scene... | Forum: Bryce
a couple of years ago I downloaded a scene in 3DS format called 'raysranch'. Unfortunately, there's no read-me file with it, and I can't remember where I got it from. Point is... I recall this same guy had a rather nice laboratory scene that was also free to download. Does this ring a bell with anyone? If so, you might be able to help me update my files and help CireNJ get his lab at the same time.
Thread: Trouble creating a shore. In need of advice (and a lil info on me) | Forum: Bryce
I'm no pro... but since I'm online at the moment I'll see if I can help... 1. If you're using a plane for the water, simple raise the terrain above the water plane, then click the little down arrow to the right of the terrain (when it's selected). It should sit down right on top of the plane. 2. If using a terrain for the water using the above method will usually leave 'gaps' as the land terrain sits on the 'wavetops'... switch to a side or front view and lower it to the level you want. something you might try... you can duplicate your 'land' terrain then crop the first copy of it down from the top and give it a nice sandy beach texture.. then crop the second up from the bottom to match the first and give it your land texture.

I like it.. can almost smell it from here... my first impression was that the mortar looks too clean and I don't know how you got that shader tree set up, but I would think that the bricks should be bumpier than the mortar. but who am I to say... looks pretty damn good

thanks for the tip AS, can't do it on this cheap machine, though. But I definitely intend to come back to this thread and save it when I get home this morning. I mean, jeez, to my eye these pictures (with the balls) look every bit as impressive as the test of Carrara 2's GI at the link above. So this is without a doubt a technique I would like to get the hang of.Thread: Global Illumination Techniques! How can we get better lighting out of Bryce? | Forum: Bryce
both of you have been dropping my draw. I've learned more about lighting in bryce from this thread than I ever did reading the manual or experimenting with settings. I just wish that I wasn't reading this on the computer at work so I could play along at home. (the bosses would be happy to know that I'm putting their time and resources to good use) thank you both for all the info. more please.

I've always gotten good results by creating the text I want in photoshop or painter, 1024 x 1024, white on black.. anti-alias it and load it into the terrain editor. Works best with lattices. Never knew these other programs existed.

close... I'll turn 34 on the 9th. Good to know that I (almost) share company with (at least) two other (so far) Cancerians of such high caliber. Something in the moon's supposed to make us more creative than most, right? Hopefully, I'll catch up someday! :o) Happy Birthday, guys. ~eric

a bit off the subject... but until now, I never realized how much Cyndi Lauper looked like an anime character. nice work, Rena.

that is incredible... A few threads back I was looking for someone to sell me on upgrading to C2 and nobody could. But this image just did. Sometimes a picture IS worth a thousand words.
