No, you are right Orchid, as you and Lighthorse said, changing the size does not change anything when you render to the view port, after setting your ratio and size you have to choose "Render to new window" or "render to disk".

And by understanding how they work and your knowledge of lightning you will get even better results with them, since you will be able to tweak them for your actual scene.
When I started with D|S, I spent hours rendering a nude V3 in default pose with one light, two lights, three lights .... changing the position of the lights, the colour, the power ...
In short, I did all these things I could not do in real life when I spent most of my free time behind my Canon T90.

Mari-Anne, this a very personal point of vision, but before using any plug-ins like the Uber-series or Dreamlight, try to learn the bases of lightning. That will help you with this products.
Just google for lightning tips for photographers, these apply as well to 3D. You may set up your own studio without having to buy expensive stuff like in real life! ;)

just wanted to clarify that I don't use pwsurfaces in my DAZ|Studio content,I avoid requiring the end users to own a specific plugin to use my content so pwsurfaces are not an option for me to use
Sorry Stefan if I made a mistake, but I think (thought) I bought one of your products where there was the D|S version with pwSurface, maybe it was only me who added it later and forgot about it.

Just to show the difference, here is a basic render of Stonemason's The Arc (the D|S version) with the default light:

And here is the same scene with pwSurfaces applied, AO enabled and quality set to Production, the render time tripled:

As much as I like Pendragons shader, pwSurface is easier to use, less guessing "What does this slider do?".
But in the end, you might (I am not sure) reach more people when using a free shader. But I think, there are a lot of D|S-user who have invested into pwShaders and I can't imagine that I am the only one who uses them in every render.

As said before, just use what fits best!
I have nearly all shaders you can find for D|S and use in all my pictures pwSurfaces.
Apart from dynamics, if I want a product, I make it work!
(And anyway, I ALWAYS tweak materials! Be it a Stonemason or Aery-Soul product, I have to tweak the mats.)

You are welcome! ^_^
Just knock on the door when you have a problem, you know where to find help!

Hello lunchlady,
to use a D|S scene or character in Vue, you have to export it as (Wavefront).obj.
Go to "Files ->export" and choose .obj choose the destination (best is "My documents/e-on software/Vue 5") enter a name and in the export dialogue choose the size (I normaly use the C4D settings, open the advanced tab and validate at least "write mtl" and "collect maps" and hit OK.
In Vue choose "Files -> import object" and browse to your file, in the following dialogue choose center object and unselect "resize".
You will have to tweak the material settings and especially add the transmaps which are not imported by default.
Hope that helps.

I see your point here, but alas, I do not know any tuto on How to make your own shader. I think I will have a look at the 3Delight homepage, maybe there are more infos about it. I guess you have to learn to programm the shaders with the SDK.
But there are lately a couple of D|S only products which use the material or light shaders of a third person, Stonemason uses pwSurfaces on his products, Antfarm (i think it's him) uses the Pointlight shader for the Denizen ...
To me its alright, it's the final quality that counts!
Thread: Maps VS Shaders | Forum: DAZ|Studio
A reflectiomap would work, but that is not the best solution, honestly I never had to use mirror up to now. I'll do some tests and give you the results.

There are a couple of free shaders for D|S, but only on one who does anisotropic highlights. If you can, look over at DAZ in the DAZ|Studio Freepozitory for Pendragons Shaders.
You may as well give an item to test to one of the D|S-cracks, might be easier sometimes then to learn a new way of working.
The following statement is completely personal and biased!
You can change material settings faster and easier in D|S than with the shader nodes in Poser.
Anyway, if you (all) need help or some ideas, here is the place to ask! ^_^

There are no such things as dumb questions, only dumb answers, see mine! ^_^
D|S to Bryce, no probleme, Bryce to D|S=export as .obj, import into D|S as .obj and reworking all the surfaces. It is easier to use pwReplicate!

I don't think you need to create a mesh for Poser and another one for D|S, and as for SubD, that is an option.
Let's put it this way, Poser has the Materialroom, D|S has SubD! ^_-
Again, you don't have to create D|S specific stuff, but if you offer workarounds for Poser-specific content you are sure to make some happy customers, which isn't a bad thing in my book!
