nothing wrong with the blank canvas idea -- its the concept ive been heavily pushing for years.

people will take a blank canvas and run with it as long as its a high quality blank canvas. word for word what ive told people at the helm of Poser for years is that all a base figure needs is a high quality platform: impeccable quality UVs, base mesh, and a good working base rig. these are things that either cant be changed or the typical vendor doesnt want to get involved with. ive said it so many times i feel like a #%@$ing broken record. you dont need to include a ton of morphs and 'features'. vendors and freestuff creators will make all that stuff.

but in order to get people to work on that 'blank canvas' -- to embrace it as a universal platform instead of just the latest in a long line of new figures that fall by the wayside -- that canvas needs to be pretty clean to begin with.

being able to distribute the modified mesh/rig does change things..

in that case it might not be a bad idea for Rendo to create a forum/subforum for her where users could submit bugs, contributors could collaborate and people could keep track of its development. will be interesting to see how it works out considering the way 3D content works... change a single vertice or the UVs and you nuke everyone elses work up to that point.

i was planning on giving her the GND treatment but i'll wait until all the issues with the base rig are fixed.

it needs to 'work' out of the box. while its nice that shes open source and people are creating improvements, its guaranteed product death to require multiple prerequisite packages/fixes before someone can use your product.

for example: own Poser 11 with service release 1, then download Bob's weight map fix 1.3 from xx website, then download Bill's UV fix from yy website: only then can you use my product. this type of thing doesnt work. if anyones been around here long enough to remember Jim Burton's excellent work with Vicky 1, even one simple step like PCF encoding cripples the release of a product and creates a product support nightmare for the vendor. there has to be some system for quality improvements to be standardized and rolled into the base figure and distributed by SM (preferably in poser). perhaps they can think of some incentive to get people to do so, like vouchers to be used on Poser, an upgrade to Poser Pro, whatever.

id do some free tweaks (i may still down the road once things stabilize), but i already spend about 60% of my time doing volunteer work - i need to earn a living too.

always save your scene before rendering -- regardless of what app.

everyone is worried about the elbow... an elbow is a very straightforward joint to fix with a single JCM... to be honest i'd be more surprised if a figure didn't have #%@$ed elbows and feet.

im more worried about this. not sure i want to deal with fixing stuff like this. does her thigh always bend like this - are you certain this isn't some anomaly due to a twist or morph?

I'm a bit behind: I still have V4 and Anastasia content I haven't released :P As for tracking - i have tracking apps on my phone and tablet but never expected to lose my laptop since it typically stays at home (was a heavy 17" desktop replacement for work). I'm from a small town in Canada, I'm not used to this theft/burglary/crime sh*t. I'm used to leaving my doors unlocked all day, my fishing gear, kayak/paddle or bike out on the front lawn, my car unlocked and windows down when I go shopping, etc. Its a different world here: they even steal potted plants from peoples windowsills. They'll steal the stones from guardrails or the cobblestones from the streets. While central Europe braces for the flooding people are even stealing metal flood defenses. I've been educating myself since it happened, and am taking steps to secure my place against this happening again -- unfortunately my door is a 10 foot double-wing affair which complicates things. I can't just install a steel security door like you could with a typical door.

Alysons original eye centers are seriously messed up.  They do not rotate on their center axis but rather in a lopsided way causing them to rotate/bulge out of her head.  Base Alyson then has head morphs to compensate for the eyes moving forward.  

The new anastasia update has some eye/eyelid fixes and they were not possible to implement without fixing the eye centers and then disabling the Alyson look up/down dial and its associated head MORPH. As stated in the readme,  this also allows other morphers and addon creators to morph around the eye area without encountering the same problem. 

Nerd helped with the fix and he could give more technical details. 

So its not a case of me breaking anything,  but quite the opposite. 

Im currently in Montenegró and have flaky internet,  and im typing this on a phone,  but ill be back online proper within a few days.

theres something horribly backwards with modern North American society.  people have conniption fits over something like Janet Jackson's 'nipple slip' and it makes the evening news and frontpages of papers and magazines for weeks on end.

or its ok for your kid to play a virtual gangster, deal drugs, jack cars and massacre entire cities in Grand Theft Auto but god forbid they see a pixellated low-res 3D breast in the game -- then its time to start the petitions and pitchforks and lawsuits going.

nudity isnt allowed in your main promo - which is shown to everyone.

it is, and has always been, allowed in your auxiliary promos.

the rules quoted above are for the main promo.

"No Sexually Suggestive Language, images or "Censored" language/images."

^LOL, you have me to thank for the 'censored' thing. back under the Clint regime when nudity was first banned (you used to be able to have it right in the main promo, store thumbs, banner ads, etc) i started posting nude banners with a huge black CENSORED over their bodies in protest, and got a bunch of other merchants to follow suit. then they banned the CENSORED thing :)
