Thread: marketplace - please consider a 3d Printable props section? | Forum: Community Center
I'm taking the opportunity to say that MistyLara had another wonderful idea in another thread!
This was about having a market section for high resolution printable images which would create a whole new market for our gallery artists.
I really like it. :)
If you do implement this eventually, it could even be integrated with the gallery. Completely voluntary for artists of course and you could offer different sizes at different prices similar to what 2D stock sites do.
Even if there are already other places doing it, I'd say you'll want a piece of that market and the traffic that comes with it. ;)

I would be 100% interested in that, both as an artist and as a vendor.

what if someone wanted to use one of my gallery images for their website or book cover, is there a way to sell permissions?
would be nice if they could add a gallery image to their cart

is there a way to rescale images and emojis in posts?
MistyLara, what a fantastic idea! RO could have a vendor section for artists selling high resolution artwork under a license. I think you should create a new thread about this to see what the interest in this might be among artists and also email staff about it. :D

Not to replace the insite feed, which is much better in my opinion. But to let users have options and flexibility.

Hope you don't mind... here is my suggestion (just a quick sketch) for a simple page for managing email/ebot subscriptions. Just sorted by user, and you could also add bulk options to turn off everything in each section. Just have everything off by default to start with and then users can add things one by one to cut down that load on the server, which is an understandable concern.
It would also need nice bar at the top with the usual search boxes, drop down boxes etc.

3dstore's screenshot from the product page is why I am a bit sceptical to the new 1200x main product image size. Unless images can be dynamic in size and be scaled down on smaller screens, they are already too big. Imagine what a forced 1200 width is going to look like on this person's screen.
Yes it is nice to be able to see details, but that ought to be available on a second click/zoom, whereas that first impression on a product page should be an opportunity to see the whole image easily.

So... here is a screenshot of what it looks like now. Images crediting a product are no longer showing up under the Gallery tab on product pages.
I can still see those images in the actual gallery, and also see that the product has been credited.

I think its neat, personally... my mailbox was overflowing. :P I just don't like all the unhappy faces in the forums... unhappy faces = not good. Perhaps you can convince them hehe. :)

The new, non-blurry autogenerated thumbnails are looking great for me though. :)

Thank you!
Unfortunately, now it is all gone. That is, I can't see any credited images at all on my product pages. On anyone's product pages for that matter.
Perhaps this is a temporary issue?
My gallery still seems to exist though, together with vendor product credits I've added.

True, I wondered why I couldn't turn off the gallery ebots before, I actually prefer an onsite feed. But others may want ebots. Would it be very difficult to make it optional and let the user set their own ebot preferences, per item/person? + a global setting to toggle all gallery ebots on and off...

While on the subject of thumbnails... I have discovered something I haven't seen mentioned, or if it has been, I have probably missed it.
I wanted to start uploading new thumbs (my gallery is small) at the new size of 500x500 to take advantage of the increased sharpness. I did so on one of my images to test things out.
But when going to the product page for a credited item, the thumbnail is now gone. So I am definitely holding off on updating thumbs until either that has been fixed or something else happens like maybe the size will be changed still. Just a heads up to vendors and others who would want their thumbnails to appear in product galleries.
This image shows what happens under the Gallery tab on the product page after uploading a new thumbnail:
